I worked on the flight deck of a carrier for the better part of four years, and all it takes is that one time.
That one lapse of awareness can kill you, and in the case of this poor woman, it probably did.
I had heard of a guy who walked into an E-2 prop once (I believe it was on the Constellation or the America) and they said the gore was appalling.

I wonder where OSHA is.....they should have mandated steel helmets for all workers on the tarmac and mandate warning labels on propellers ..to stop people from making stupid life endings mistakes...

Sad. Never walk through a propeller arc! Never! If you never do it when the prop isn’t turning, you won’t do it when it is.

A simply horrific tragedy. :-(
The gun is ALWAYS loaded...treat it accordingly.
The prop is ALWAYS spinning...stay the f&*k away from it.
If you are the pilot....someone is ALWAYS too close to the spinning prop so pay very close attention.

I read in one report the she was used to their company’s planes that had the propeller in the front. This particular plane had them on the wings.

Maybe they should be equipped with some kind of running lights so that when they are spinning they can be more readily seen.
To: kingattax
The answer is obvious: ban all propellers.

This is the type of aircraft that was idling on the tarmac. Apparently she was asking the pilot if he wanted food:

Took care of a chap who walked into the tail rotor of a UH1.
He didn’t last long.
Dangeous stuff goes on around aircraft.

There's a famous video on youtube of an American sailor, working the flight deck of an aircraft carrier (at night),literally being sucked into the engine of a jet fighter. He survived...and it was said that his helmet saved him.
