Ben Carson on 2nd Amendment: Needed In Case Gov’t Goes ‘Off The Rail’

“But the real reason that they put it [2nd Amendment] there is recognizing that there could come a time when our government itself could go off the rail, and could try to dominate the people, and the people would need a mechanism of defense for themselves,” said Carson. “I would never allow the Second Amendment to be jeopardized.”

“I do believe that it is necessary for people to begin to have rational discussions about things – what kinds of weapons,” said Carson. “You know, I don’t think tanks, for instance, would be a very good thing to be keeping in your garage. But you certainly should have access to any kind of weapon that you want for recreational purposes or to protect yourself. There really shouldn’t be a lot of restrictions on that.”

He continued, “You do need to have a discussion about how we deal with situations where there is a tremendous amount of crime and easy access to the kinds of weapons that can create a lot of damage quickly. But that needs to be done in context of always preserving Second Amendment rights.”

Right, and a tank is not what you need; anti-tank weapons are what you need to protect yourself from out-of-control government. But if you really WANT that fat easy target, you should be able to own it.

Carson is clearly not presidential material.

Maybe not, but I'd love to see him preside over the dismantling of HHS, then the EPA, the two DOEs (energy and education)...

Any potential candidate who is not comfortable with me or any other law-abiding, adult, non-felon citizen walking into a gun shop, buying a semi-auto pistol, loading a standard capacity magazine for said pistol with JHP rounds, dropping it into a holster or pocket and walking out, no questions asked, background check or permit necessary, does not understand the 2nd Amendment, is a Statist, and undeserving of our votes...

Rhetorical question: If there are "no questions asked", how does the gun seller know that the buyer is in fact a law-abiding, adult, non-felon citizen? Or a citizen at all? Or has just escaped or been released by judicial fiat from a mental institution?

I guess the solution is to let anyone who chooses to do so buy and own weapons, and to make the punishment for using them illegally certain and severe.

The late Senator – and presidential candidate — Hubert Humphrey D, Minnesota.

You could disagree with his kind of Democrat on policy, but you knew he loved America as much as you did. Zell Miller was probably the last of that bunch.

Yeah they have tanks, we have deer rifles.

It's not all that difficult to bake the contents of a MRAP.

100 million firearms are all that stands between us and boots on our throats.

Seriously, what do you think the current admin would do if that situation didn’t exist?

The same thing the Nazis did before we stopped them.
And that same solution ... is what we are going to HAVE TO DO to these FASCISTS/MARXISTS.
