Saudi religious officials used the presence of scores of world wrestling superstars to present copies of the Holy Quran and other Islamic gifts to them.
Newspapers said 37 wresters were given translated copies of the Quran and other presents meant to explain the meaning of Islam to them.
The wresters included John Cena, Randy Orton, Wyatt family, Kofi Kingston, the three members of the Shield, and other WWE stars.
The wrestlers arrived in Saudi Arabia last week for a three-day show in Riyadh and other cities in the conservative Gulf Kingdom.
Sabq newspaper published pictures showing a Saudi official presenting the gifts to the Wyatt family members Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan.
I dont think you can “catch” Islam like that...
International diplomacy may dictate that the wrestlers must accept the Korans, at least for now. If the wrestlers were to openly reject the ‘gift’, and publicly embarrass their hosts, thing could become unpleasant. The Saudis are known for their wealth, vanity and compulsive pettiness about getting their way. The American athletes could be locked up or otherwise ‘detained’ by the House of Saudi. A better and far more subtle way to reject the Koran, if that is their choice, would be to just leave it in their borrowed bedroom; on the floor next to a full toilet.
Funny that we don’t hand out Holy Bibles or New Testament tracts anymore. Plus, they probably already got a Koran when they visited the White House.
Who forced them to go to such a place?
Brilliant!
Soooo.... They won’t have to use their left hand?
Wouldn’t be surprised if one of them burned one of the Korans in the ring on a live “RAW”. Advertise it ahead of time. VinnyMac would probably wet his pants from the ratings.
“I already have a queeran. It stinks.”
Man did I laugh when I got to the end of that!
Vince McMahon
Don’t you think these guys are trying to promote Islam in the U.S.?
No. I think their motivation is mainly mercenary. Some performers such as Beyonce or JLo have also developed a fan base that just so happens to be very wealthy. If America isn’t directly at war with certain countries, many stars find it hard to turn down one million or more for a short tour.
