..."Downton Abby", "Call the Midwife"?
I like Scott and Bailey, too. I have to pay close attention to what they’re saying, because of the accents, but the show is good, and the characters interesting. Does anyone know if there’s to be some new episodes coming up?
I wouldn’t watch anything on that communist channel if you put a gun to my head!!!!
That wasn't true when the shows first came out. We would eagerly await the next Benny Hill episode in the 60’s.
I think they just got old fashioned and regarded as sexist later.
From the Museum of Broadcast -
The statement implied that he was not recognised as a great comedian and was belied by the enormous international popularity of his program and by the fact that in the 1970s and 1980s he was several times voted the Funniest Man in the World by the British television audience.
Hehe.. :)
Thank you for the first hand view ;^D
I have to use the caption feature on all of the British shows.
.
You might also want to check out the following:
“Touch of Frost” and
“Wire in the Blood”
Both are excellent series.
I sometimes have to translate for my wife...:^)
Frost is all on Netflix streaming (good)
There are only a couple episodes of Wire in the Blood floating around on the usenet.
I have a friend in the UK who regularly tells me what he is currently watching. Pointed me to some very good programs I probably would have missed otherwise.
Get on youtube and try some “Rab Nesbit”. Incomprehensible Scot accents. He says even the English can’t understand them LOL
He totally reminds me of Niles!

Sure does...are they related somewhere along the line,(and maybe they don’t know it), or is it coincidence.....
Prolly not related, Freeman’s English and ‘tother guy’s American.
They both do quite well playing prissy characters’, though, huh?!
See ya’,
Ed
I’ll try to remember to look for Bayside Shakedown, thanks.
I really enjoyed the subtitled “I love Pasta” from South Korea on Netflix. It was completely campy, and so cute.
