VERY FISHY ... MOU to be signed on black boxes & remains of MH370 BUT only by M'sia & Australia
Malaysian Chronicle ^ | April 18, 2014 | Malaysiakini

MH370 Malaysia and Australia are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on jurisdictional issues upon the finding of MH370, such as the handling of the black box and any human remains.

According to the New Straits Times, the MOU is to avoid any legal pitfall that may arise. However, its details will not be made public.

The NST report quoted Department of Civil Aviation director-general Azharuddin Abdul Rahman (left) as saying that Malaysia and Australia will be the only parties to the MOU, and that it was drafted in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) rules.

Azharuddin said Malaysia would lead most of the investigation, while Australia and other foreign agencies would assist.

The MOU is reportedly being studied by Canberra officials at the moment, while their Malaysian counterparts hope it will be concluded soon and endorsed by the cabinet at its next meeting.

The terms of the MOU will come into effect once any part of the aircraft is found.

It is said to be very detailed and comprehensive, even taking into account where human remains will be taken upon recovery and where autopsies will be performed ...

“Australia has its own laws on the handling of bodies of accident victims, and so does Malaysia... So a specific agreement on this is crucial....

The report also stated that police investigators have carried out a re-enactment of what they believed happened to MH370 at the KL International Airport.

“The timeline for the re-enactment began from the night of March 7, from the time the passengers and crew checked in, right up to the runaway and MH370's parking bay.

“The exercise, kept closely under wraps, involved only police personnel and ran through late into the night,” the report said.

When the top officials resign in Malaysia will the hostages be returned?

And then all the signals will be wrote off as “seismic anomalies” or a complicated event of hurriedly air delivered short term black box “simulators” that were placed by persons unknown.

"moot"

You are correct. Moot. A word with a meaning directly opposite to how it is frequently used. According to the Oxford English Dictionary:

moot

Syllabification: moot
Pronunciation: mo͞ot

ADJECTIVE

1 Subject to debate, dispute, or uncertainty, and typically not admitting of a final decision:

whether the temperature rise was mainly due to the greenhouse effect was a moot point

Are you sure you mean moot?

The meaning of the word moot is moot

This agreement seems similar to that signed with Egypt re: EgyptAir990. The Aussies are perceived as friendly to Malaysia and China and they’ll likely source the Brit equivalent of the NTSB anyway, who the Malaysians are agreeable to(having dissed the NTSB early in the game).

The Moosefolk community are in the same state of mind as in 1999; They know it’s their guys but they’ll never admit it on their own.

I was reading the Mirror earlier and they report that the search area has been reduced to a 6.2 mile circle. The survey should be complete within a week.

At the rate that they have been going of 35 sq miles a day they should be able to cover 6.2 sq miles in a few hours not a week.

It sounds like they have seen something and they are going in for a closer look.

Malaysia, Australia reportedly in deal on black box custody

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/malaysia-australia/1075816.html

A survey by Malaysia’s leading independent polling firm released earlier this week found that only 26 per cent of Malaysians believed the government was being transparent about MH370.

Previous likely flight paths south:

The third one [not on the map] for the current search area where the 811 Arc intersects the S20 Parallel would have meant that the plane was travelling the last five hours @350 knots along a path about 300 miles shorter more to the east and closer to friendlier ditchable waters near Australia with fuel still in the tank.
