Today is the first time that Hanson Baldwin has written about the special committee examining whether or not to organize a Department of National Defense. He notes that the Navy is opposed. It will be interesting to see how this debate plays out, both domestically and in the news from the Pacific between now and the invasion of Peleliu in September.
