Just so you know, there are lots of Jews from the South, like me, who are most certainly not Yankees, and who despise the term. Like me. And lest you think that the Jews are some sort of prewar carpetbaggers, look up names like Haym Solomon and Judah Benjamin, as well as just about every major player in the triangular trade that made the South so successful for so long, and share these stories with your friends and family the next time you hear the words “Jew Yankee.”

The Torah obligates Jews To be HOLY. That means “set apart”. The distinctive thing about Jews is distinction itself. G-d instructs Israel “to make a distinction between the holy and the profane”, between that which may be eaten and that which may not be eaten, and yes, between Am Yisroel (the people of Israel) and the nations. This isolation, necessary for the creation and continuity of the fledgling Torah Culture, was a double edged sword: it protected Israel from the surrounding pagan cultures, and provoked resentment, fear and hatred as it demonstrated its superiority over them. Nothing has changed. Western Civilization, which has inherited Torah true concepts through the Christian stream is the dominant force of world history. We now have a president who denies this truth. And by course, Liberals, in their feckless attempts to ameliorate the demonic hate of Islam, follow in this absurd denial. I am sorry to add that many Jews are among them. These are self-hating Jews, at war with their true selves, their G-d and his Torah.

True enough that there is a strong socialist streak among Jews both in Europe and here. However, the more orthodox (Hassidim) are more often conservative, and in Europe they still maintain their merchant origins (Antwerp).
BTW, there are very few kibbutzim remaining in Israel compared with the past.

You know, I don’t know you. You don’t know me. The Jew’s I know came from New York. That makes them a Yankee. If you think that is a derogatory term then that is on you. And I didn’t think or even suggest that any Jews were “pre-war carpet baggers” Where the hell did you get that?

The suggestion that kibbutzim is a Jewish tradition since it's beginnings causes me pause.
It brings up an interesting question.
I thought kibbutzim sprang up in Israel post WWII as a viable new beginning for Jewish survivors arriving with nothing but their willingness to persist by the sweat of their brow and firm belief in maintaining cultural and religious traditions. It makes sense that those who miraculously survived the holocaust and pograms arrived with no physical shelter or monetary means to settle with a family to support. Forming a collective like a kibbutz made it possible for survivors to work, provide for and raise a family.
Surely kibbutzim created industries which operated on capitalist practices creating profit.
This would also explain why there are fewer kibbutzim today than in the post war era. As the deserts of Israel bloomed from the profit of decades of kibbutzim industry, families no longer relied on kibbutzim to survive. Families could move to independent households and into the rapidly expanding & profitable commercial industries of Israel today.

The Jews are held responsible in the Gospels for the trial and subsequent crucifixion of Jesus. They became categorized as pariahs, the “Christ Killers”.
Once they were identified as anti-Christian they were legally proscribed from owning land in most countries. Forced to turn to trade and money lending, they became targets of the poor and the rich who resented whatever success came to the Jews as at the expense of the non-Jews.
I was wondering if someone would mention that.
My dad grew up in Mississippi long ago (he’s 93) and there were several Old South Jewish families living in his hometown. Culturally they were the same as everyone else, as different from northeastern Jews as any other Southerner could be.
Some history I was reading pointed out that the percentage of Jews in the Confederacy was larger than that of the North. Charleston had a sizable population. And of course Judah P Benjamin whom you mention was the Secretary of State of the Confederacy, among the other offices that he held.
You’re overreacting. I don’t think he was attacking you at all. He was just reacting to the idea that someone would think he’s a yankee.

The point of my original post was. There are many “groups” of people in the United States that seem to go out of there way to be offended. You can tell who they are by the hyphen.
Italian-American. Mexican-American. Jewish-American. African-American etc. etc. I don't have time for any of it. I don't give a damn if “they” call me racist. I don't give a damn if “they” call me antisemitic. Because “they” would be wrong. Wrong isn't the right word. Ignorant.
I tell a story about an old Jewish lady. A story who a “Jewish-American” would probably find offensive. Because they would think it stereotypes well, old Jewish ladies. Hell, I can't help that. The story is true. But, see, I wasn't supposed to tell it.
Same with African-American's. You, I, point out that “they” commit crimes at a disproportionate rate compared to other groups. That make you, and I racist. Of course it's true. You're just not supposed to say it.
Italian-American's. Been in the news lately. Offended at the Mafia stereotype. The Godfather is offensive to Italian-American's. Or is is Sicilian-American's? I forget....like there was no Mafia.
