That’s funny since Nirvana wasn’t a political band. And many who followed Nirvana while on SubPop during the early grunge era knows full well that Nirvana completely changed their sound to market to a broader market. I have played Bleach (Nirvana’s first album) to many who claim they are Nirvana fans and had no idea who they were listening too. Punk was alive and well way before Nirvana. Stipe is a fool and has no idea what he is talking about.
“Negative Creep” was covered by one of the Ramones, IIRC.
Yeah. You get it.
It revisionist history that Novoselic and Grohl probably go along with now.
But it has no basis in reality.

Same here man, GNR and Metallica were my Beatles and Stones. And people think that Cobain was a hippy are greatly fooled. The ones who were lefties were Pearl Jam and Soundgarden but Cobain rarely delved into politics as he was more into music.
The only REM rated stuff I enjoyed was the blues bum they did with Warren Zevon as his backing band. Other than that, thay are painful to listen to. Dave Grohl is on helluva musician. I have nothing but respect for his work, but don’t know his politics. I never did like Nirvana.
