A new study finds eating too much junk food doesn't only make you fat, it may also make you mentally slower or less motivated. At least that seems to be true in lab rats.

You may say it as a sarcasm, but it might be the truth. How often do scientist confuse cause and effect because they think correlation equal cause
Most people I know who eats nothing but junk food are already lazy.
Lab rat.
Silly science ...
Junk food holds no nutritional value. Incomplete nutrition will naturally make one mentally slow and thereby lazy.
Did not need a big study to tell one this.
How much did we pay for this study?
Lots of these studies take place in the scientific community; I see the results of some of them in a hospital-based newsletter I subscribe to.
Your point as to who funded them on target. I would imagine that lots of them are funded by the U.S. Government.
Junk food in, junk science out.

I worked for a while in a teaching hospital. Every physician intern that came through had to do some sort of "study" to meet fellowship requirements. The majority of their "studies" were barely even science.
The study described here sounds a step above most intern-directed studies, but not much. It has been well known for a long time that inadequate nutrition leads to sub-optimal brain development. This result shouldn't surprised anyone.
The U.S. government funds most research. It also funds people to go to graduate school. Thank you, taxpayers, for funding my Ph.D.!
Good for you! You probably lopped off about 15% of the grocery bill, as well.
A big “No Duh” scientific study. One only needs to spend an hour in their local Wal-Mart to see this in action. You’d be hard-pressed to find an overweight slob in lounge pants and slippers buying fresh fruits and vegetables. When chips and pop become the staple diet for so many, it’s little wonder so many morons abound. Good nutrition has been linked to higher intelligence time and time again.
Dammit - Michelle told you NO!!!!
It’s the Twinkies’ fault!
Maybe the MSG.
Most of these “studies” are expensive bull$h!t.
It’s about rats. Extending the conclusions to people is not valid science.
Junk food is not what rats normally eat. Junk food does not have the nutrients that the rats normally get, and need. SO they are badly nourished, have less energy, and are less mentally alert. Why is this a surprise?
Their highly-paid conclusions are wrong.
Quite right. I’m 57 and I’m discovering the older you get the better fruits and vegetables taste!
This report says you must change your name.
Seriously, these researchers didn't need lab rats. I could tell them junk food makes me sluggish in every respect. Carb overload
Would SeeBS bother to report it if a study showed that welfare makes you lazy and fat?
