Truman was one of the most partisan of presidents.

He could be pretty vicious by some standards.

And he did have this to say to the music critic who put down his daughter's singing voice:

"Some day I hope to meet you. When that happens you'll need a new nose, a lot of beefsteak for black eyes, and perhaps a supporter below!"

In any event, he wasn't the cuddly, folksy guy people convinced themselves that he was after he died.

I remember that music incident, even then people thought it was quite humorous. He was in Papa Bear mode.

I would hardly put him on a “worst thug” list though. He wasn’t even close.

Don’t forget that Wilson gave us the Federal Reserve.

I used to admire Truman until I read “Blacklisted By History” about Joseph McCarthy.

Truman was far, FAR more interested in protecting Democratic political interests than he was at protecting the national security of this country.

See my post at #25. Partisan, indeed. Dangerously so for our country.

I’m reading the diary of journalist William Shirer from his years in Berlin when Hitler was rising in power. On a trip home to NYC, he recorded that he met with a friend that was more concerned with the new deal and the fact that he couldn’t grow potatoes in his own yard because of FDR than he was with Hitler.

I don’t know, since most d’RAT’s are thugs then they will vote for their like kind. Sleek Willy was a rapist, O’bummer is a neo-nazi, and Lynden Johnson was just bad. Harry Truman was the only decent d’RAT president.

Compared to the Dems, Nixon did nothing. He didn’t even order the Watergate break-in. He just wanted to cover it up.

Nixon once “threatened” but never did sic the IRS on his opponents; Obama has.
