Truman was one of the most partisan of presidents.

He could be pretty vicious by some standards.

And he did have this to say to the music critic who put down his daughter's singing voice:

"Some day I hope to meet you. When that happens you'll need a new nose, a lot of beefsteak for black eyes, and perhaps a supporter below!"

In any event, he wasn't the cuddly, folksy guy people convinced themselves that he was after he died.

I remember that music incident,even then people thought it was quite humorous.He was in Papa Bear mode.

I would hardly put him on a “worst thug” list though. He wasn’t even close.
