A prince strips a posing group of prostitutes naked one by one as he selects a companion for the night. It sounds like a scene from a porn film, but this was the latest episode of the epic fantasy drama Game of Thrones, based on the novels of George R R Martin. The start of the gory series’ fourth season on Monday even managed to shock its own fans. .....................................................

Campaigners warned it could lead to young people being ‘desensitised’ to content once considered shocking and being influenced by the behaviour they displayed. Miranda Suit, of Safermedia, said: ‘What are [young girls] learning from some of these storylines?

I had not watched it previously. Thought I would give it a try since it was starting a new season.

Got to the whorehouse scene and turned it off.

Yuck!

They can try to take us
but we’re the gladiators
Every one a rager
But secretly we’re saviors.

“...ikely written by childless abortion rights types...”

It’s typical for Hollywood. Yeah, it was disgusting.

South Park weaved in GoT into a multi-epi storyline last fall. Obstentiously about the battle over gaming systems so the extended gang for play together, and the upcoming Black Friday sales, the political backstabbing motifs was pretty funny.

Then, of course, a couple of them visit GRRM...

Have never heard of it.

A lot of inner city "youths" haven't heard of Isaac Asimov.

This doesn't make them brain surgeons either.

"A prince strips a posing group of prostitutes naked one by one as he selects a companion for the night."

If they had bothered to watch the episode, the Prince wasn't selecting a female companion for himself. He was having them undress for his FEMALE companion. The Prince wanted the male for the companion for the night.

Since I don’t get HBO, I only got to see bits of this series - like the Red Wedding scene.

There’s only a few series I watch - “The Walking Dead”, “Top Shot”, and “Breaking Bad” when it was on.

This new series on AMC “Turn” looks really good. First episode was well done.

Yep, that’s true.

Still, this scene was added and of no relation to the characters in the book, which I do not care for.

They are injecting sexuality into it, and perverse sexuality at that. In effect, they are corrupting it, and that pisses me off.

However, I still intend to watch it, because I love the story and the characters, at least the once they haven’t pooped on like they did with Oberyn and Ellaria.

In the books, sex and sexuality was much, much more understated and handled in a mature way.

The same cannot be said for the series.

I believe the story is more than strong enough to stand on its own without this debauchery.

Just finished “The White Queen”. I didn’t find it too bad.

Of course I had just forced myself to sit through Season 1 of Deadwood because I bought and paid for it. After that anything seems tame.

There is no way to FF though all the stuff on a series like that one.

"It amazes me HBO seems to be under the impression folks want to watch that trash."

No, that's just what they want you to think. That and that such filth is somehow "normal". It's all part of the indoctrination the MSM is shoving down our throats. Unfortunately it's working all to well, especially in view of the fact that the majority or our society lacks any sort of solid moral grounding.

Couldn't agree more. I wish they would knock it off from here on in and just stick to the story. I guess you read that they renewed the series for two more years beyond season 4?

No no no. The scene with Oberyn Martell picking out the whourea from the lineup.

I can’t wait until the purple wedding. I’ve read the first four books.
