BREAKING: Master Sergeant Christopher Grisham has been found guilty of interfering with police duties, a class B misdemeanor. Grisham could face a possible $2,000 fine and up to 180 days in jail for the offense.
The retrial of Fort Hood soldier C.J. Grisham began Monday after a jury was unable to come to a verdict in the case last month.
Monday, the jury heard two witnesses testify including the Temple police officer who arrested Grisham as well as the woman who made the call to police.
Temple police officer Steve Ermis took the stand to give his account of what he said happened last March when he stopped Grisham and his son after a concerned citizen called police about a man carrying a large black gun on the wrong side of the road.
Ermis testified that he believed Grisham did interfere with police duties when he tried to disarm him of an AR-15 rifle he was carrying while out on a hike with his son for a Boy Scout project. During testimony, the jury in the case also got to see firsthand what actually happened through police dash cam video taken of the incident.
In the video, Ermis is seen approaching Grisham and his son asking the two what they were doing and grabbing the gun off Grisham's chest. Ermis is then heard asking Grisham why he had the gun to which Grisham replied "because I can."
When Ermis tries to disarm Grisham, he reacts by reaching up at the gun while Ermis draws his own pistol and points it at Grisham's head out of what he said was fear for his own safety.
Grisham can then be heard yelling that Ermis can't take his weapon and that he has a concealed carry license and is legally able to have the gun. Ermis then proceeds to take the weapon and gives it to a fellow officer while Grisham is handcuffed and held face down on the hood of the police car.
The video ends with Grisham being detained and the second officer telling Grisham he is being taken into custody for resisting arrest.
That charge was ultimately changed to the current charge of interfering with police duties, and Grisham could face a possible $2,000 fine and up to 180 days in jail for the offense.
” Texas cops are legally allowed to disarm you while they assess a situation”
According to what part of the Second Amendment?
Oh, right, I keep forgetting that The State may ignore the Constitution when it best serves her interests.....
Which Texas governor signed that gem into “law”?
Agreed.
I live close to Fort Hood and there are lots of soldiers coming home from war. I think that the Police are more cautious in places like that. Just saying.
Resisting an unjust arrest is still a crime?
Since when has violation of the second amendment by police been an official “police duty”?
Killeen, unfortunately like too many towns around military bases, isn’t the best of places to begin with. Lots of gang activity.
Temple, however, is a bit further away. Army folks aren’t unheard of there, but they weren’t as common as coppers cove, Harker heights, and Killeen.
At least that was my experiences with Killeen/Ft hood and the surrounding areas in the 90s.
If we can't trust officers or senior enlisted men in our Armed Forces to carry weapons then who *can* we trust?
...and the spark that would have led to a new revolution died from lack of interest.
Hey, it's understandable considering the house mortgage, the payments on the new truck and boat and the kids with their soccer games on the weekend.
Truth be told, there ain't gonna be no revolution........
Best wishes.
I was thinking this was Arizona at first, and remembered from living there many, many years ago it was open carry. My landlord carried a revolver on his hip at all times and at first it made me a little nervous because I’d only been around long guns, deer hunting stuff. Once I found out he was a veteran and he was a swell guy I didn’t worry about it again.
It is (was?) one of the really civilized aspects of living in Arizona.
I humbly suggest getting all sides of the story to find out who this guy (Grisham) is.
IMHO he is not one we want to champion our side.
As demonstrated and proved, he is wacko and guilty of Stolen Valor: https://www.michaelyon-online.com/stalking-soldier-arrested-disarmed-by-texas-police-some-facts-opinion-and-analysis.htm

Michael Yon John — there is particular soldier who is a common denominator in the Soldiers’ Angels attacks, and the three soldiers I had problems with this time in Afghanistan. One soldier is in the middle of this, and he is one of those three. The other two were part of his “blocked by Michael Yon” facebook page. They would come on FB and curse at people and act like children, get blocked and brag about it. US Soldiers did such things, including one Captain Chris Carbone. Officer. US Army. Civil Affairs guy. Think he was winning battles in Afghanistan?
4-4 Cav was getting great press until Chris Carbone and the other two soldiers decided that good press is not what 4-4 Cav needed. Keeping in mind that none of these soldiers where in 4-4 Cav. Two were Civil Affairs, one was intelligence. (How smart is that?) They didn’t mind destroying the good press that 4-4 earned and deserved.
The problem soldier is wrapped tight with Blackfive (Matt Burden, Godfather of Blackfive, is a boardmember at SA), Mudville Gazette, and the rest of that small clan who really could care less about the troops downrange. If they cared, they would have left me alone to tell Soldier stories.
I was doing it every chance I got, but Soldiers’ Angels officers are a principal reason for my problems downrange. Wonder why I am not telling Soldiers’ stories? Ask the Mary Ann Phillips who wants unarmed Dustoffs to wear Red Crosses into hot LZs. What does Mary Ann know about gunfire? Phillips, an SA “leader”, fully supports sending unarmed people into combat. Don’t lie about it Mary Ann...I’ve got your email traffic. Make my day.
(Those extra casualties could help the SA bank account and fund more fun trips to concerts and golf tournamets.)
They’ve been attacking since 2010 when I said Menard and McChrystal should be fired. (They then were fired.) That’s where it started. I asked Patti about this yesterday but instead of taking time to answer (after she reached out initially), she went soap-opera with it and dragged her organization right there it belongs; into the spotlight.
If they were reputable leaders of a volunteer organization, they would not spend so much Soldiers’ Angels resources attacking a lone American writer. They got the attention they wanted. Now what?
That’s all. Cheers.

“I think resisting is a catch all charge no matter what you do.”
Of course it is. The videos of the police pounding the crap out of someone while screaming ‘stop resisting, stop resisting’ are quite revealing.
Still a nutter.
If the ‘good’ ones don’t get a pronto handle on the lunatics/thugs in their midst, it’ll likely end up as a distinction w/o difference.
Would’ve been sumpin if had occurred on 11/12/13...
