The 5.3 at 9:10 was plenty strong for me and it kept going. I’ve had more than enough quakes for tonight.

Ditto on that.

FYI...There was a 2nd quake minutes after my post and we definitely felt that one. According to Cal Tech it was 5.1 magnitude at 1.9 km depth. May not sound big, but if your close to the epicenter, all sorts of damage is possible.

It has been downgraded to a 5.1..no consolidation though, it was still a pretty damn good sized one..yeah enough shaking going on for tonight..I guess the closer you are you will probably have aftershocks..wonder what fault line this occurred at? We have a fault line here that goes along Wilshire Blvd, if we had a 5.1 here damn we would feel that one bad

The epicenter is on Lambert Rd., just east of Harbor Blvd.—and three blocks from where I’m sitting.

The big jolt knocked power out in this area for about 15 minutes. I am now hearing sirens and helicopters.

Just before the big jolt hit, I had taken my calico cat off the top of a cabinet where she was perched, which was fortunate, as the quake might have knocked her off. She doesn’t seem to mid all the ruckus.

Why do you keep blaming the cat? LOL!

Does he get blamed for everything else?

It looks like I’m maybe 5 miles from the epicenter. And if it is the Whittier Quake I know that one runs close to my house. Not fun.

KFI reports that the Matterhorn ride at Disneyland is stuck. Glad I’m not there....

Just heard Vin Scully announce it on the Dodgers/Angels exhibition game. If you one has to hear about an earthquake, hearing it from Vin is the classiest way to do so.

Yep I agree, Vin always announces these things in such a classy manner..if Chick Hearn were alive he would just know how to report it, he would say the “Eggs are JIGGLING”

Yep, I know exactly what you mean. I’m a geologist, too, but I’m not an academic egghead that cares more about numbers, data and grant money than human life.

Now what are you doing on the 16th floor in Las Vegas? Nobody sits in their room in Vegas. Get back down to the casino floor.

Tip: look for a five line dollar slot with red, white and blue sevens. Play $20 at $5 a pull. I’m sensing you will hit at least $120.00.
