Remember the Michigan cancer patient who claimed in television ad paid for by the conservative group Americans for Prosperity that Obamacare made her out-of-pocket prescription costs so unaffordable that I will die?
As it turns out, Julie Boonstra, 49, of Dexter will actually save more than $1,000 a year under President Barack Obamas Affordable Care Act, the Detroit News reports. [ ]
When Detroit News confronted Boonstra with what fact checkers had learned, she reportedly said their findings cant be true.
I personally do not believe that, she said.
She still thinks her new plan is unaffordable because shell have to meet her out-of-pocket maximum early into the treatments and some cancer drugs are being covered by a separate prescription policy.

Hope they can survive Obamacare.
I didn’t post the Detroit News hit piece due to their being Gannett. Their tone was quite disgraceful too.
Meanwhile, there has been no investigation into the alleged death of the wife of the employee who lost his job under Romney.........
Joe the Plumber redux.
Other congressmen are asking for stories like Boonstra’s and the media is just trying to intimidate them into silence.
That story, that Romney was responsible was so easily debunked
I guess you brought that up to point out the media’s usual hypocrisy
Of course they are. The "lib media" are probably acting as lapdogs for the Obama regime. This article is from something called "The Dexter Patch," which very few have ever heard of. How can they possibly say "no" to requests from the federal government to beat up on this lady?
What really got the Obots interested in getting back at Ms. Boonstra was that she had the courage to go on national television to explain how Obamacare was hurting her!
As well their War on our Military; their 'War on Business; Education; 'America's children - both healthy and sick. How about their 'War on American Prosperity'; the War 'for' the Left's transformation of our Country and with that; our own, collective and altogether 'unthinkable' future.
A future of abject degradation, that promises to come to pass; if our Leadership does not speak up with one voice; and now. . .
Viable messages; not being articulated. Warnings. . .without voices. . .whereby, instead; our worst enemy moves forward; because we allow them to 'define' us, and in their own worst, self-image, of course. (Have only to witness Sandra Fluke and where 'that' went; and 'her' along with it.)
Isn’t that convenient. Left wing “fact” checkers are out in force and able to go through all her personal insurance records to discredit her. How did they get her insurance records? Who financed the “investigation?” How is it Reid gets on the floor and says every story is false and only sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns come from Obamacare. AND there is an army of Obamacare lovers to bash anyone who speaks out against Obamacare on the linked story.
Yes I did......And for the record, the guy's name was Joe Soptic and his wife was NEVER covered under his health insurance while he was employed with GST Steel.
she had her own insurance under her own employer which she lost when she lost her job and chose not to continue the coverage under COBRA.......
I posted the Patch article because of Detroit News being Gannett.
Notwithstanding, there are still some indications that the BC/BS Gold plan isn’t going to cover certain drugs Boonstra needs.
Likely her out of pocket is also much HIGHER than it was previously too.
What good is an insurance policy that costs $9k/year with a $10k deductible that must be met FIRST?
Any healthy person should tell the IRS to stuff it and save themselves the $19k.
I suppose part of the problem is that even if she is mainly covered she was confused to what she was entitled to also up front payments will exclude those not having the money or family members to help.
Dexter Patch is a “hyper-local” online publication that AOL began publishing nationally in communities like Dexter, which is a bedroom community of liberal Ann Arbor. AOL suffered nothing but red ink and just unloaded the publication to Hale Global. Most of these local Patch pubs were filled with libs.
[A TV ad by a pro-Obama superPAC that is based on the story of a GST worker who suggests that his wifes death from cancer years later was due in part to losing health insurance when the plant closed got a false from Politifact and drew criticism for being misleading. But the Romney campaign has released its own version of what happened at GST Steel. The video features a former executive, Huselton, who says that Bains actions actually saved the company.
Theres this vampire story that Bain comes in and shows its teeth and sucks the blood out of the operation, says Huselton. Its really quite the opposite. We went out looking for a blood donor. Bain came in, and the way I look at it actually gave us a blood transfusion. ]

There are coupons and program offered by drug companies and you would surprised at what is out there if you do the actual work and search for it. In many cases, people just arent aware of them. I found a coupon that dropped my cough medicine from $300 down to $20. Freebies are even available for migraine meds to people that qualify. My mother was getting imatrex straight from the manufacturer i believe for free.
What likely happened is the drug companies caught wind of the story and contacted her to keep their name from being drug through the mud, or her local reps actually cared and reached out.
None of this changes that fact that Obamacare is a total failure.
I spent some time at MD Anderson in their particle accelerator lab. They use it to make cancer treatment drugs. Those things dont build themselves, though that one was built with private and public funds, and I have no clue what actually happens to that research or the drugs they produce. One of the techs that used the device explained what it did but it was so far over my head i just laughed at him.
Cancer med is big money and therapeutic approaches, aka drugs, are the new thing in the battle against cancer. Private industry getting public funds for research raises a moral grey area, especially when the “people” have paid part of the research bill, then, if they need those drugs, they get to write more checks.
It doesnt end with drugs either. GE dropped some serious grants for projects related to DI. There were EE’s building MRI’s out of what looked like radioshack parts. They were taking multicore design principles and applying them to DI sensors, essentially squeesing more sensors onto a single chip for higher resolution. Kind of like the multicore cpu’s we have in our computers. It was amazing stuff to see and looked like a movie with entire walls covered in massive equations. It was nice to feel like the dumbest person in the room. Very humbling.
