Don’t forget retinal detachments from running on pavement for years.
Oh, and take a good look at the addicted runners. They are dehydrated, emaciated, stringy and wrinkled. And that is before they hit 60.
I love meat and cheese. No way will I give them up.
.
Just ignore all these stupid dietary scares.
They all cancel each other out. No matter what you do, something will be bad for you and will kill you.
Based upon the author’s research, that’s enough beef for about 10,000 people..........
I do not want to SURVIVE to 100.
I want to LIVE to 65.
“Dont forget retinal detachments from running on pavement for years.”
Wouldn’t surprise me. I know a few hard running seniors, who never had a whiplash injury with severe neck problems.

Yep, even worse if they are vegans or vegetarians.
To me the poster boy re not running like a criminal on the lam was Jim Fixx.

Extreme bikers, as well. In that instance, it is the head-forward posture that strains the musculature.
MODERATION.
Watch women or guys with long hair in a pony tail when they run to see the impact of running on a pavement has on their head and their neck that supports their head. Those pony tails are bobbing up and down and around like the tail on big squirrel in heat.
MODERATION is the key to a good and long survival.
A few years ago I had a meniscus surgery repair job on my left knee at age 72. The surgery was done by the head ortho in this area.
The pain that sent me to him was severe. When he was looking over the xrays, he stated, “You are not a runner, and you have an old impact injury. He concluded that I was a regular walker with excellent leg muscles which would help him in the surgery and in my recovery”
I asked how he knew that, he said my knee X ray showed a meniscus tear from an impact (old football injury) and normal wear and tear and minimal age related arthritis.
Then, he showed us a couple of xrays of knees of long time addicted runners, and to non MDs we could see the damage. Damage that couldn’t be corrected by surgery unless the knees were replaced.
I had same day surgery and was off pain pills in 24 hours, and I was hobbling around the house for a couple of days.
Then, I started walking on the level streets in our area after a week. Two weeks later, I was going up and down the hills in our area. I walked at the incredible speed of mile every 15-17 minutes.
Every knee replacement person, we know or met was an addicted runner. Those our age with minor meniscus surgery were walkers with older knee impact injury. Like me they had a minor meniscus out patient surgery and were back to their normal in about 2 weeks.
