Here in Pennsylvania, roast pork and sauerkraut is THE traditional meal on New Years Day. So you just substitute roast duck for the pork, and voila!

The skin of the duck with plum sauce served locally here is delightfully slightly crispy. I think they might deep fry it briefly before serving. Fantastic!

Not too different here in the South for New Years Day. Black eyed peas, collard greens ( a cabbage relative) and pork. Some warm homemade corn bread on the side finishes it out.

I agree, the duck skin is always best slightly crispy.
