I won't be around long to reply. Leaving the house soon. Hope you enjoy the photos.
Wow !
If ya have a ping list please add me.... Thanks for the pictures. Looks like lots of riddlers !
Stay safe !
Thanks for Part 2. Those 49 thru 51 Mercs were always my favorite iconic customs of the 50’s era. Especially when ‘chopped and channeled’.
Someone took two Volkswagen Beetles, cut them in half, and stuck the two front ends together and made it into a working automobile.
Just enough resto and mod. Looks like it can actually be driven on nice days.
When I was a little kid (4-7 or 8) I can remember my grandfather having a couple of old mid 50's pickups, on his farm. Have always liked them since being old enough to drive. I miss the smell that they had.
Whoa...that’s what I call sexy!
Isn’t that the coolest thing you’ve ever seen? I learned to drive on a 1971 Volkswagen, as did my younger brother. He ended up wrecking it (not his fault) or we’d probably still have it.
I remember years ago I saw a picture in a car magazine of an early 60s Chevy where the entire body had been rotated 180 on the frame. Except for the fact that it always looked like it was going backwards, it was street legal and normal looking, not a show car. Obviously, the lights were modified.
The cops took a very dim view of it, though. As I recall, they told him in no uncertain terms to get it off the road.
And heres the story behind the
Little Deuce Coup
Nice stuff.
I was at the PRI show here in Indy this year, Ford had a ‘32 roadster with their V6 EcoBoost crate engine. Looked complex (as most new turbo / intercooled / electronics are) but cool.
No Flatheads? How old-school is a Chevy small block with a 450 auto trans? Not very! Beautiful cars though!
Flatheads forever.
Nu Sko0l.
My first “legal” car was a 1940 Ford coupe that I paid $100 dollars for. I lowered it in the back, put a 3/4 race flathead engine with 2 Stromberg 97 carbs, and a columbia rear. An awesome car, very fast. Wish I had it now (except it was terrible in the snow.
Back in the late 50’s my first car was a 47 Ford coupe, complete with red/yellow/blue flames, raised in the back end and in really great shape. Also placed a car club plaque on chains hanging from the rear bumper. I was a teen at the time, in high school, with a meager income so I couldn’t do much to it. It was a looker.
These are great! Brought back a lot of memories. Thanks for posting!
My second car was a 1947 Ford convertible fire engine , and white top. Had the same flathead setup and Colombian rear. I worked logging in the summers, school and trapping in the winter untill joining the Marines.
