That’s one thing I remember about “my” Python. The blue job. Never seen better. It absolutely glowed.

Then, the action. Is there/has there ever been a smoother double action trigger?

And I’m with you on the .357. But there are louder. .44 mag and up. The one time I shot .44 without hearing protection I went instantly deaf. Not too long after that Harry Callahan went into a restroom with his .44 and shot up a bunch of bad guys. I thought BUULLLLL S..T!!

Just about all Colts of that era had beautiful finishes. I think the smoothest action I ever tried was a police trade in Colt Official Police which had the same action as the Python. That particular gun was also incredibly accurate.

The best finished handgun I ever saw was a very early Astra 400. It had one of the few finishes I have ever seen which was actually blue, not dark blue, not blackish blue, but a beautiful deep soft light blue. A few of the small parts also had that straw finish.

I have 2 M4’s and have put over 50,000 rounds through one of them and they have never jammed. Sometimes it is the operator.
