Labrador Retriever: A stomach with a search-and-retrieve function. LOL. That looks familiar. My house still bears drywall and baseboard scars from when this one was a puppy!

"
And I stand by my view that you are ever stuck to this arbitrary and illogical rule that you were taught in grade school. Theres no other reasonable explanation for becoming a grammar police for a dated and now little-used rule."
That's illogical, dishonest and
hysterical. I criticized an error committed by the writer of the article over this thread, and you reacted with a personal display. If you want to begin learning, work through an applied English text.
I edited for graduates and publications before becoming too disgusted to continue babysitting affected feminists and other non-analytical minds. As for the MLA, it started in the 1800s and has published other references since then. I used MLA publications before 1985. Discuss it further with yourself.

Oh yeah. My first lab did that to the plaster kitchen wall in the house I rented.
The landlady, sister to the owner who lived in a different state, said the house sold “as is” & not to worry about it. The buyer was a construction contractor. Heh.
Same lab taught herself to never again chew on electrical cords. Shake a cord plug in her face & she’d put her head down, watching it from the corner of her eye like it was gonna reach out and get her again.

You, sir, are simply ignorant, but go sashaying about FR as a grammar Nazi, ‘correcting’ what you perceive to be a grammatical error. I simply pointed out to you that what had got your grammatical nose out of joint was not an error by the most relevant common standards.
In response, you have been insulting and you have only further demonstrated your limited understanding. The MLA published a separate document for writing in the academic world before the 1980s, when it first weighed in with a manual of style intended for the broader world.
I have a graduate writing degree and have worked professionally as a writer and editor for decades. I have tried to broaden your perspective by referring you to multiple appropriate and accepted authorities, and I am done with this conversation.

Only a few months old, our Lab pup swallowed a rock. [see homepage]....after two weeks he finally spit it up.
During that time I was on patrol frantically digging through his *duty* to see if he passed it.
Salamander was of great assurance during that episode. Fortunately, it wasn't repeated.

LOL, Sal’s come thru like a hero for one of mine too, tho it was a mild case of bloat rather than foreign object.
Reckon we should keep her around? ;o)

She's been a great comfort during doggie-stress-issues and has a wealth of knowledge that she readily shares. She's a keeper, fer sure!

Ah, good...I’ve earned my keep for the week.
:D
My new girl Seven was picking up gravel and carrying it around for a while.
We went overboard dissuading her from doing that.
[I kept thinking of Daf and her rock-chomping boy the whole time]
