Weaver was no slouch, either. He had a gentleness that was hard to portray in a series about a rough-n-tough lawman. But Curtis was absolutely immortal, though.

Dennis Weaver lived two houses down from us in North Hollywood when he was an unknown....we went for a visit, which is just a vague memory since I wasn't yet 5. Mom just referred to him as "the actor".

This would have been in 1949 or 50.
