These are two of the four stores I visit regularly to fairly occasionally. They all have their strengths. I’ve never bought asparagus at the U.City one, but the green beans are always superior as the customers tend to be extremely picky about those. If this was the first customer to be picky about the asparagus then, hey.

I can pick asparagus, put them immediately into the fridge and they stay good for at least a few days. If I use one of those produce bags lined w/Zeolite, they stay firm and fresh for nearly a week before being steamed. I do this every year, as there are only two of us and I will just steam enough asparagus for one meal at a time, even though I have cut several dozen.

The cut end scars over after cutting, so I don’t understand why standing them in water would accomplish anything.
