The Scythians prospered from their trade with the Greeks in the Crimea, so it's hard to see why they would attack them.

On the other hand, Alexander's father Phillip II had trouble with the Scythians, killing their king in battle. Maybe this conflict was somehow tied to the Scythian/Macedonian enmity.
