I used to own a poster from the old USSR of the "famous charge" on the Winter Palace during the October Revolution. The focal point of the poster was an ordinary soldier, with a fixed bayonet on his rifle, waving others forward toward the well-defended palace walls.
I liked the poster for its art. As a piece of history, it was, however, like many things that came out of the old Soviet Union: a wonderful depiction of an event that did not quite happen.
As the military historian D. J. Goodspeed recounts, there was no charge against the Winter Palace. While the communists assembled outside the gates, the members of the provisional government sat down to a bountiful, late dinner, seemingly oblivious to the surrounding threat. Communist units entered the palace gates and were surrounded by overwhelming forces and surrendered. But as more and more communist units entered, more and more of the defenders, seeing a never-ending stream of revolutionaries, deserted their posts. Sometime early in the morning of the next day, the remaining defenders saw themselves terribly outnumbered by their captives and they too began to leave their posts.

That's far to vague and doesn't really say anything. Regimes fall when the ruling class lose faith in their own right to govern.
Great article.
What will cause the taker Regime to lose its legitimacy by the 53% who view the government as a cornucopia of benefits for which they did not work? Will it be when the EBT cards no longer work or can it be something where they finally see the light of what the state has raised them to be?
We can only HOPE....
Excellent article. Thanks for posting it.
When pigs fly.
Revolution, then...sadly, probably a second Civil War.
My revolution is a Democrat beating Lindsey Graham so that Trey Gowdy can run next time. THis is the only way it looks like we can get that Flaming RINO out.
Only hope for Mccain is that God finally decides he has had enough of the traitor and sends him to Hell.
Unfortunately, I think you're right, which means there is no solution short of the traditional one - lots of death and destruction.
Did you mean, “counter-revolution?” As in, counter-revolution against the totalitarian progressivist monsters who have triumphed over our government, our schools and our culture.
They cannot be reasoned with. There is only one way to stop them.
Regimes fall when the ruling class lose faith in their own right to govern.
Not true.
Ruling classes NEVER lose faith in their own right to govern.
It is not their “faith” in their right that empowers them.
It is:
When a hurricane happens, the first words from the populace are “What’s the gummint going to do?”
When people are unemployed, the first words from the populace are “What’s the gummint going to do?”
When a disease takes hold and spreads, the first words from the populace are “What’s the gummint going to do?”
When people are hungry, the first words from the populace are “What’s the gummint going to do?”
When houses are being broken into and people threatened, the first words from the populace are “What’s the gummint going to do?”
When gas prices go up, the first words from the populace are “What’s the gummint going to do?”
When foreign nations are attacked or threatened, the first words from the populace are “What’s the gummint going to do?”
When some Bed and Breakfast refuses to host a queer wedding, the first words from the populace are “What’s the gummint going to do?”
Gummint is a one size fits all. They did it to themselves because in 1913 they authorized the creation of the Federal Reserve, and decided then that they could create money and wealth out of thin air.
No one can blame the populace for reaching out to gummint if they have a problem.
But gummint does not understand the awesome responsibility it has taken on. A responsibility that it can NEVER handle.
Interesting times in which we live, no doubt about it. I’d love to have a time machine to see how it all ends. From the outside looking in, it appears he/they are taking all the necessary steps to stay in DC as long as they want. Purging of true military top brass... Muslim Brotherhood infiltration ... hand-picked fellow Revolutionaries in key positions... Rigged elections... RINOs who are content with it... blah, blah, blah.

Historically, revolutions tend not to end all that well - and then only after seas of blood and rivers of tears have been shed.
But the process can take decades to reach the tipping point. Britain seems to be getting there - watch UKIP.
I betcha there was some excellent music that went along with that.
Perhaps I missed it, but I don’t recall George III or Parliament losing faith in their right to govern the American colonies.
The British ruling class certainly did. That's why they quit. Edmund Burke was calling for American independence before anyone in America was.
