After NBA player Jason Collins broke that barrier this week, the National Football League is making sure it will be ready for any coming out party.
Earlier this year, at least three college football players said they had been asked about their sexual orientation during NFL recruitment interviews, sparking calls for the NFL to do more to fight discrimination.
Just hours before Collins' coming out statement was published by Sports Illustrated on Tuesday, the NFL - America's most popular sport, with $9 billion a year in revenue - released a ‘workplace conduct statement' regarding sexual orientation.

I am wondering how all of the heterosexual players are going to react knowing that a queer is in the locker room with them.
I have no doubt it takes quite a guy to play at the NBA level for 12 years. But WHY is he never referred to as a "star"? Even by ESPN?
And yeah, my suspicious meter is up when a "star" happens to come out as gay in the twilight of his career. When he may have no other options for employment next year.
I'm sure his teammates must be thrilled to know that this guy was enjoying showering with them. REALLY enjoying it.

The NFL has already began committing suicide with it’s rule changes to block head butting - add acceptance of openly homo players and NFL income will drop to less than half of what it is today.
