Bobby Burgess has been married to the same woman since 1971 and they have four grown children, some of whom are in a dance studio business with their dad.

People always make fun of guys who dance; but as for heterosexual ones, their flexible athleticism highly recommends them to women on the personal level, if you catch my drift. Here's just a few hetero male dancers:

Gene Kelly
Michael Flatley (Riverdance)
Bob Hope
Bing Crosby
James Cagney (my all-time favorite)
Bill "Bojangles" Robinson
Sammy Davis, Jr
Savion Glover
Gregory Hines
Cab Calloway
Bob Fosse
Michal Barishnikov

As you can see, you don't have to be Irish or black to be a great heterosexual male dancer, but it helps.

Mickey Mouse Club was one of the very few children’s programs available in the fifties. I hated all of them. All that idiotic dancing and over-acting by kids whose parents probably pushed them into show business just to get them out of their own faces for a few blessed hours each week.

But you could watch it without feeling like you needed a shower afterwards. It was just harmless fun. I'm so grossed out by what passes for "dancing" on TV these days -- more suitable for a strip club -- and the singing -- oral sex with the microphone, the "I'm having sex" face, the oversinging and vocal shouting -- yuck. Now I see why old people go to the opera. At least those voices are trained.

Off topic a little....there was a girl, not on MMC, but in EVERY 50's and early 60's TV show....she always played the little shy girl that none of the boys wanted to date, but then they did because there was always a MORAL to these shows...she had bangs, dishwater blonde hair.....any ideas of who she was??

SHe probably was on Spin and Marty (LOVED IT). HELP!!!

If Paul Anka really wrote this, he is a jerk.

And insecure in whatever vestige of manhood he may have.

I was smitten by the only Italian gal in my class, who now that I think of it bore an uncanny resemblance to Annette. To my shock she married at eighteen and has been married for forty-five years now.

Povero tu... mala fortuna tua! For a man who loves home life, the domestic type of Italian woman is almost incomparable. Just think of the cooking you missed out on...

You really might enjoy the movie Il Postino, the story of a passionate young guy in love with the local beauty in a tiny Italian village.

(Not Annette Funicello; but the same kind of brunette Italian beauty.)

Apples to oranges.

Anka wrote his first #1 hit..."Diana"... when he was about 16 YO.

I guess he was the Justin Bieber of the day. :)

I was there and I loved him and his music!...and Elvis, also.

Come to think of it, I don't remember much from Elvis during that time. I bet Elvis was in the army.

Yes..but sometime in the mid-late 50’s..when I was pre-pubescent lad...Annette’s “little itty-bitty budding breasts” DEVELOPED..and boy, she had a RACK..and the MMC sweaters that she were were much too tight..as the wardrobe dept didn’t realize that she was rapidly developing...and they wanted to save a few $$$ on a new sweater..
