Well who’s bloody stupid idea was it to hold the cotton-pickin’ thing in NEW JERSEY in FEBRUARY??????

The rule should be: Unless you’re in a warm-climate state, you can’t have an outdoor Super Bowl. (Yes...I know that eliminates Seattle from ever hosting one. Oh well.)

I've heard people even complaining about the northern domed stadiums because the cold weather puts a damper on all the festivities in the week leading up to the Super Bowl. Who wants to do anything outside in Minneapolis in February even if the stadium is domed?

Some of the cities like Seattle or San Francisco should be OK for an outdoor Super Bowl because it doesn't get really cold. New York is just nuts. Why not just go to Green Bay and be done with it?

That used to the rule. It limited the Super Bowl to LA/Pasadena, New Orleans, Miami, Houston, and Dallas. The first fifteen games were held in one of these cities. It wasn't just about the venue for the game, it was about the convenience of the fans and media. It's no fun battling a blizzard to leave your hotel for a party at some other location in the days before the game.

I guess the owners of other teams and the mayors for cities they play in got jealous of the revenues the games generated and demanded they get a slice of the pie too. So in 1982 Pontiac, Michigan became the first cold weather site. Still, through 2014 only five Super Bowls have been awarded to truly cold weather locations- Pontiac, Minneapolis, Detroit, Indianapolis, and East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The really insane part of that last choice is it's an outdoor stadium.

I would love to see a Super Bowl played in a heavy snowfall.

And Super Bowl halftime shows are there for the part of the Super Bowl audience that doesn’t like football.

The official NFL policy is no city with temps below 50 degrees unless they have a dome. Not sure how NJ got selected.

Football used to be a manly sport, where bad weather was no problem and even considered a plus by many players and true fans. I think a cold weather Super Bowl, now and then, is a great idea.

I think the cold weather will result in many more real fans in the stands as opposed to elites who don’t really care about football.

Also, for the overall tourism experience, I think there is a whole lot more to do in NYC in February than there is in cities with domes, like Indianapolis or Detroit.

See...I disagree (and not just because I am a Pats fan!)

One of the things I LOVE about football is the fact they play in nearly any weather...

I think it is great when the weather is bitter freezing, or there is a blizzard, or even, yes...pouring rain.

I can’t stand baseball, they get a raindrop, everyone stops what they are doing and they stare at the sky.

One of the most memorable games in history was the Ice Bowl in Green Bay...

But I do understand. I can dress for the weather, but...I would feel sympathy for those who don’t, and you can be sure there would be a lot of them. It requires experience, planning and the right equipment. So I understand, it would be impractical.

Heh, the last game I went to last month against Houston, it was 45-50 degrees...my wife thinks I am crazy because I wanted a blizzard.

As for the halftime show...I say never do one again. I think they all suck. Or better yet, bring in the Blue Angels, and let them do flybys and an abbreviated show in full afterburner the whole time...:)

THAT would be my ideal halftime show!
