People are going to .22 for cheapest target practice. Only now it’s not so cheap.
“People are going to .22 for cheapest target practice. Only now its not so cheap.”
Not really. I find every day the cartridges for target shooting at reasonable prices, it’s the hollow points that are totally out until a company gets some and then it’s out faster than a lightning strike.
I don't think its so much for target practice as its being bought up by folks who are late to the party and it's dawning on them that the “bitter clingers” may have been right.
A .22 LR doesn't kill outright by shock like a 45 ACP or 30-06. It kills by “stabbing” so shot placement is of prime importance. It is an extraordinarily “dirty” round due to the external lubrication that is found on many .22lr rounds (read infection). When a person gets a extra hole from a .22 that God didn't give them, that hastens a long stay in the medical system provided a major system wasn't hit. The recipient may not survive the hit long term but are capable of wreaking considerable damage short term. As they say in real estate location, location, location

I miss "the good old days" where every couple of months K-Mart would have their W/W Wildcat .22LR on sale for $5.99 for a 500 round brick.
Of course, that could also say a lot about how the dollar has been devalued over that time.

Very interesting thread.. This pretty much shows that a) People sense something bad is coming, b) People think the gov't will make ammo unobtainable, c) People think ammo will become currency or a bartering commodity, or d) All of the above.
