In case there is a freeze in the possession of firearms, I would like to own one of each of these firearms, and have them registered to me and under my name so that I can own them until my death.

You can’t write a check for a thousand bucks? Why the hell do you spend so much time and energy here if your finances are that tight?

Doesn’t Wal-Mart do lay-away now? I don’t know time limit or restrictions but FReepers are bitter, clinging to their Bibles and AR-15s or so I’m told.

You know Laz, just suggesting the “in case of a freeze” implies some pretty stark and sobering thoughts about our government.

Wha?! Yeah good luck with that.
Why don’t you just go buy one on a credit card and pay it of monthly taking a little interest hit.

Get your butt down to your local shop and buy an AR-15 lower receiver. ATF considers this the gun and everythign else is unregulated parts. They build easy with no special tools, anyone can do it. Cost should be less than $150.
Don't wait. Go now.

You can only buy firearms in a private (non-FFL) transaction from a citizen of the same state.
I would study all applicable laws carefully, and interpret them in the most pessimistic manor possible.

Dear Laz. Registered? Do you live someplace where that is a requirement? I keep seeing “registered to” in news articles but dang if I would want to live anywhere you have to register. Although it appears that they may all need to be registered if things keep going the way they are. Everybody needs to get on the phone, fax, email and hard copy letters to their reps/sen and demand they uphold the constitution they swore to uphold the same as many of us did when we joined the armed forces. I don’t think the commitment had an expiration date or a disclaimer that once you were discharged you were no longer required to uphold the oath. I considered it a life long commitment.

I want to buy MagPul 30 rounders and 5.56 ammo. In the next coming weeks, before the end of January, I will be buying my share of guns, ammo and magazines. I have wanted to buy them earlier but didn’t have the means. Now that I do, I will. Unfortunately for me, it might be a bit too late to pick up the AR platform and 30 round mags. good thing I’ve got some backup plans.

Laz, here's a thought; how about buying and building it in stages (for the AR, anyway)? I bought a stripped lower from Del-Ton for $120 plus shipping ($18) and my FFL charged a $25 fee for the paperwork/background check.
The rest was bought in stages, with the most expensive piece being the complete upper for $415 + shipping (but you can buy the parts for about the same amount of money separately - barrel/upper/bolt/forward assist/charging handle/gas block/tube). Everything but the lower (as this is considered the "gun" by the BATFE) can be purchased without any FFL involvement and shipped direct to your door.
You could easily get this done for around $1,000 for all the parts, or as low as about $750 if you can find a kit for everything but the lower.

There is no registration for such firearms in the state of Georgia at this time.
We all need to work on keeping it that way.

FReepers don't sell guns. They buy them.
And if you DO buy from an individual, NEVER re-register them, and tell the government where to come and get them.
