With last nights two-part episode The Final Page, How I Met Your Mother closed out its 2012 run, leaving the series at an important crossroads. Weve been hearing for months now that rumors of a ninth season were possible if CBS managed to sign the cast and crew for an additional year, but with a decision imminent in the next month, whats standing in the way of locking things down? Are the actors unwilling to return?
Whether you love How I Met Your Mother enough to give it a fitting end this May, or love it so much you cant bear to let it go before a ninth season, an announcement from series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas is imminent. Following last nights heart-warming finale, both creators have done a great deal of press answering questions about a potential ninth season, and how theyve crafted a story for either case.
In particular, TVLine elicited some rather specific details about the cast and crew negotiations for a ninth season, Carter Bays explaining how more than the actors decisions (including Jason Segels purported reluctance) are influencing the decision:

I see this advertised all the time and haven’t the least bit of interest. I assumed it was a show about homos, single parents and smart ass kids?
The premise is starting to run out of room without it getting stale. The show wandered around a bit before the past season, and only then did it seem good because it was getting close to the conclusion everyone’s been waiting for.
I’d like a Season 9, but not at the expense of quality.
I don’t think the show is good, but all three of your assumptions are wrong. They’re all straight, the only parents are married, and there is only one child - a baby. The humor is still juvenille though.
Actually it’s pretty decent in values as far as Hollywood goes. One of the main characters goes from being a womanizing creep to actually questioning the emptiness of his life and decides to settle down.
For the young adult market, that’s pretty socially conservative.
Meh. The show is kind of boring. Most of the time instead of plot they just have multiple non sequiturs about “Do you remember” when we did something 15 years ago. They actors are getting to long in the tooth for these characters if it goes on much longer it will be “How I met your GrandMother”.....
The Brunette on the show is Robin. She’s a Canadian, living in NYC with a love affair of large-caliber firearms. And the writing in the show shows that in a good light.
I know it’s a bit “unrealistic” to see a Canadian in NYC legally packing guns (They do emphasise that she has a permit) but I still love the story lines involving her and her guns.
Hey us Gen Yers were kids when Friends were on, so give us some slack.
Sure it’s not groundbreaking in storytelling, but it does have heart in its style and use of sitcom elements when it doesn’t digress into tangents.
I like it far more than that PC Modern Family a lot of my contemporaries rave about.
Love this show...been catching up on Netflix, and up to season 5. I guess the humor may not be for everyone, but I am thoroughly entertained. There’s not much worthwhile on tv, with so much reality stuff and junk, I have found myself liking shows that just have fun, with no agenda.
I watched 15 minutes or so of 1 episode.. I hate this kind of comedy television..
just vapid and unfunny , in my opinion...
I do like some comedy shows, was a big fan of Seinfeld, Friends, Cheers, The Office.. etc..
that said, enjoy it if you like it. I will find entertainment elsewhere.
They used to have comedy on TV; now its homos trying to be funny, trying to make their way of life fill right...put them all on an island and let them reproduce...they Bible is clear on their way of life

doogie the poof is on that show so “click” no reason at all to watch it. The show does not exist.
Hopefully it will be cancelled.
If y'all really want to bitch instead, just go to one of those many immigration threads lol
Oh Lord....not at all. Why do you have to write something like that without even watching the show even once? It is actually a pretty successful show and even if it leaves today, it had a successful 8 years. God Bless CBS! The best Network on TV!!! NCIS, NCIS LA, POI, Blue Bloods, Mike and Molly, Survivor, The Big Bang Theory, The Good Wife, Amazing Race, CSI NY, and so many other incredible shows. We are blessed to have wholesome TV shows that CBS provides.
this is a troll thread to promote the show. think viral promotion.
doogie poof is on it, click.
That's where you went wrong. It's not a joke-fest where the homour is disconnected from the story. It comes from the people in it - It's not some top 40 song, easily digestible. ... It's Stairway to Heaven. (Wow, Roger Daltry just rolled over in his grave.)
There often isn't a single LOL moment in some of the best episode such as "Nothing Good Happens After 2AM" - or as Friends would title it "The One Where Lily Kneed Korean Elvis in the 'nads" (OK one LOL moment}. But that is one of the least significant incidents in the episode, which is about Ted Learning an Important Lesson.
