Worst? Easy! The Star Wars Holiday Special -- apparently it was only shown on commercial TV one time in 1978:

It is Lifeday, a holiday that is celebrated on Chewbacca's home planet Kashyyyk. Chewie and Han Solo are trying to get to the planet where Chewie's family is waiting for him, but the empire is out searching for the rebels, giving everyone a hard time. While we are waiting we get a look at the everyday life of a Wookiee family. We meet all the familiar characters from Star Wars and we are introduced to Boba Fett during a small cartoon. We also pay a visit to the Cantina and meet all the monsters again.

My aunt told me Vera-Ellen suffered from anorexia.

When you compare her to the other actresses/dancers from that era, she isn't that much smaller. The diet and activity levels were so much different then. Vera-Ellen died from cancer at age 60.

Couldn't have been any worse than a He-Man Christmas

The remake of “It’s a Wonderful Life” in which George Bailey is Mary Bailey. Feminist horror. I think it was called “It Happened One Christmas.

Many did a good job as Scrooge.

None better than Mr. Magoo ! I haven't seen that in years, but I always found it very touching.

I'll just add that I have a real weak spot for Ernest Saves Christmas, with a similar plot line to The Santa Clause, which I also like on the strength of Tim Allen's Santa transformation.

As I understand it, she went nuts over an (imagined) weight problem, became anorexic/bolemic (?) like Karen Carpenter. and wound up starving herself to death - like Karen Carpenter.

of all the many A Christmas Carol movies made, the one with G.C. Scott is heads and shoulders above the rest. I also agree on disliking the depressing, tiring, It’s a Wonderful Life.

The first time I watch “It’s A Wonderful Life”, I thought it was great, but it seems that every year it is the dominate Christmas show ... on all channels, 24/7 ... enough already.

I hate it, I hate it, I hate it and besides, I don’t much like it anymore.

LOL!

A Christmas Story succeeds despite itself. Weak direction, so-so acting, low budget, it didn't hold together when it was made, so the producers had to ask Jean Shepherd to narrate it to make sense. The mother's hairdo is straight from the 1970s in a movie that's supposed to represent the 1940s (1930s?). What saves it is Jean Shepherds's screenplay and narration. It's cute but could've easily been better.

I was wrong about cause of death. It’s been a long time since I read her story. But here is a line fron her biography. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0893584/bio

“It was discovered that Vera-Ellen silently battled anorexia throughout much of the 50s before doctors had even coined the term or devised treatments.”

She had more than her share of hardships. Sorry for the screw-up. Mea culpa!

Easy to overlook the flaws, when there are so many great lines. And Darren McGavin was what, 60 when they filmed it?

I think people relate to it because it makes them remember when they were a kid and they would obsess over getting that one present.
