I'm pretty damn depressed right now. I have no idea what I'm going to do with my life.

At least you got 5 years on me. The American Dream is dead, I just wish we we born earlier to experience it for ourselves.

I’m not pimping a blog, and dunno how you guys feel about vanities, but any hope I had for the future of this country, as well my own future, was pretty much just flushed down the toilet tonight.

I feel like I should crawl under a rock and wait for the end of the world.

Similar boat as you. 28 years old, just scraping by. No real future prospects I’m afraid.

Stop whining and use the intelligence God gave you.

Move to Canada, get in the Oil business, and watch the collapse.

I’m 10 years your senior and I don’t know what to think. My wife wants to check out of this country...seriously were not pulling a histrionic reaction here. I don’t know what to do. I feel totally lost for me and my family.

Keep working. Continue to be a good worker and trying to move up the latter. Also invest in yourself at every opportunity any free seminars, any schooling, anything to make yourself more marketable and employable. Stay positive. Politicians come and go, but you will have you and are in charge of you until you die.

Find what comforts you too when it comes to faith and practice that on a regular basis. You will find yourself going forward and growing in experience and soul each year.

Keep the faith my FRiend. Let no man or government stop you from thriving and being the best you that God intended. In adversity all men are tested. This is where you carve who you really are. Be great. Be the change you want my FRiend. Be sure too to fill yourself up to doing the things you enjoy that make you feel good.

There is a God, and He is in charge.

Put your hope in Him, not in men, not in their governments, and not even in their armies. Because nothing can happen unless He either allows it or causes it.

It’s ok.

Tomorrow, the sun will shine, the birds will sing, the rain will fall, and the wind will blow.

I am in my sixties and have survived twelve presidents.

When I hear people say that they’ve never seen the country more divided, they musta forgot the 1960s. They musta forgot the Civil War. They musta forgot the Women’s Temperance Union and Prohibition.

We’ll get through this.

Get married.

Have lots of children. Home school them. Teach them self-reliance, and encourage them when they marry to have lots of children and do the same.

The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.

I’m 43, and I feel stupid for never taking advantage of the American dream, for taking it for granted, that in time, that I will get it when I’m ready, but... I’ve squandered it. I am a fool.

God help us. All we have now is the Senate and House to keep him in check, but he has so many ways around everything, and oftimes, too many of our own kind bending to his will and giving in, “compromising.” Bad day for America. Damn the fools who voted for him.

When I was 27, I had also had nothing.

Now I’m 57, and I have something. I’m small potatoes, but I’m happy potatoes.

It took a long time for me to figure out how to get along in the world. You’ll do it too.

America is not going to fall. America is a process, a methodology. It’s based on human nature, and human nature isn’t going to change.

There’s lots of feedback loops operating here. Far too many for anyone to keep track of, certainly not for Obama and his loser minions to keep track of.

We’ll pick ourselves up and carry on. You’ll be part of it. Don’t worry.

I am so angry....so upset.....

I should tell myself to focus on God, and the family, etc...

but I can't right now....

its over....its done....elections are massively corrupt because I know in my heart Romney had this won....

I guess it'll be Canada if things get much worse, if they'll take us...

I hate everyone who voted for the nazi dictator, and the trouble is, my family is in that group...

so what do I do now?

You will do what you can. People had to deal with Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. We just have to be tougher.

as a mother of an unemployed 23 yo and 34 yo army vet and a grandmother, my heart is just breaking for you and for the conservatives this country. I have no use for any Obama voter - family or not.

I got nothing for you man.

If you’re thinking of doing something drastic, at least consider joining the French Foreign Legion. You’ll learn French, get to see Senegal or Guyana, and after 4 years you can choose a new French name and move to Paris when you get out of the service. Paris is filled with good looking women. Boy, that’s some city. Believe me you.

Let me suggest for your new name: Jean-Bertrand du Charlebois.

Oh please. Pick yourself up by the bootstraps, take an anti-depressant, and get busy. Whining about your perceived plight on FR is nonsense.

I was afraid to post this dream I had. I was 50, had a young wife and small children, I remember having a locket around my neck. I was in the woods with my father, who was close to 80. It was Civil War II we were fighting and the bad guys were closing in. All I remember is I had an M1 Garand (or maybe the M1 carbine) and .45 (like my grandfather had at Normandy) and I remember saying to my Dad, “if we make it to the Blazer, we’ll be OK.” We made it, fired it up and escaped. I woke up in a cold sweat with my heart racing. Is this our future? I did not tell this dream outside my mother and father.

You’re thinking like a liberal, guy. Your success depends solely on you. You make your own opportunities.

If the economy were upbeat, you could find a job for some other guy, work for him. But that’s unlikely. You need to make your own job. Which in the longer run will be better because if you can start your own successful business (for example) then you will be dependent on no one.

The other guys in this thread also have great advice. Cheer up!

27???

Man, you are one lucky dog.

Move to Texas or Idaho, or some good state while you are young, and build your own world of good, wholesome, caring people, that can understand the things that you talk about whether they agree with them or not, and that share most of your values.

Actually, at age 27, you should be able to go anywhere, hang out with anyone of any type, and always have a good and interesting time.

I think you need to take a deep breath. There will always be winners and looser, givers and takers...

I’m old. I’ve saved all my life and am comfortable. If the economy collapsed tomorrow, there would still be “rich” people and “poor” people. I have no doubt whatsoever that if everything was reset... I’d be back on top again almost immediately.

Now I feel useless and I'm at a crossroads in my life

I don't want to sound uncaring, but you'd better get your shit together soon. If you are still useless under fully-implemented ObamaCare post-2014, then you won't get any medical care. Productive worker bees who can contribute to the collective will get repaired; the rest will get end-of-life counseling. Or worse, eventually....
