Is anyone watching the Closing Ceremonies? So far, I've seen a quite eclectic selection.
I think so far, the highlight has been when Eric Idle, one of the Pythons, came out and sang "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life".
TOPICS: Music/Entertainment; Sports
KEYWORDS: 2012olympics; closingceremonies; london; londonolympics; olympics; weird

To watch yet another tribute to a health care system where everyone (except the "beautiful people",of course) wait for 6 months for a heart operation?
I'll take a rain check,thanks!

I so want them to have one segment where all at once one of those Brit police boxes appear, and out comes Dr. Who (perferably David Tennant)who looks at his watch and says something like, “Sorry wrong century.”, and then the box disappears in a puff of smoke.

I had to read twitter to understand why we saw a fat Batman and Robin come out a little car.
I never understood many of those PBS British comedies but I liked watching in the late 70’s & early 80’s Monty Python & Benny Hill “weg*

I am. After tonight, taking a break from sports this week, even from my beloved Red Sox of Boston. They are done for the season. Doing like a vacation from sports this week.

Hope the closing ceromony is better then the opening which at times was “dripping” with politics.

Anyone know what time it is being tape-delayed? More curious than anything.
The coverage description on the Channel Guides are confusing.

Not to worry about the Red Sox, they stomped on what was left of the Indians today. As for me, I will try to catch the ceremony at 8pm, hopefully NBC won’t screw that up too.

On the whole, this closing ceremony has been utter crap.

Worse then the opening? I thought that was a PC piece of garbage. Reminds me of South Parks version of a non-offensive Christmas play

Overall, it wasn’t too bad, it got better towards the end, IMHO.
Though I dread why they always have to include that Ode to Communism, “Imagine” into the ceremonies.

watching the closing?.. No.. just looking thru pics now.. and watching the Men's Marathon..
The IOC had time for this tho.. but not for the victims of Munich 1972..
Is London's 2012 Games just so much Munich 1936's with the manufactured hype and shocking behavior, from twittering to doping..
Does history repeat itself? Will Rio happen? We still got Sochi in 2014.
Party On!

I will say this, though....now that the Games are over, I am breathing a sigh of relief. At the beginning of the Games, I was dead solid sure that Something Extraordinarily Bad was going to happen, and I was sure that muzzies were going to be behind it. I cannot be happier to be proven wrong.

Okay, I’ll admit...the George Michael/Russell Brand parts of the show, better known as “Fruitcakes on Parade” made me throw up a little in my mouth.

Yes. I didn’t watch a single competition. Maybe I’ll get to see Gabby’s gymnastics performance. Other than that, I expect to be as underwhelmed by the closing ceremonies as I was disappointed by the opening. I hope not.

Wifey and I will probably snooze thru it later anyway. It is a reflection of some pretty diverse cultures and the miscreants a society like Britain’s produces these days.

To: hoagy62
I think all-in-all London did a good job. Of course there were minor hitches here and there, but that’s to be expected anywhere.
Rio has big shoes to fill.
