Every time I see that sour-puss picture of McKayla I can’t help but shake my head. I understand she was disappointed, but you think she’d learn to hide it and be gracious after so many years of competition. And it’s not like she was scored low, she fell on her butt! I do wonder if her attitude will hurt her as far as future endorsements go.

I actually love this kid. Obviously not part of the “participation trophy” mentality.
She’s 16 and was extremely disappointed in her own performance after being so heavily favored. She apparently broke down in tears afterwards but held it together here as best she could.

These girls train about 30-40 hours a week. She’s probably made that vault literally hundreds of times in practice. She’s far and away the best vaulter in the world. And then to have THAT happen in the Olympics...I don’t think I’d be able to hide my disappointment either...and I’m an adult.
