I know there are a few FReeper CrossFitters out there. Anyone watching the Games this weekend?
I'm totally blown away by Julie Foucher and Rich Froning (of course). I'm totally shocked by how poorly Dan Bailey and Ben Smith are doing after being hyped up for the entire season leading to the Games.
I swear I'm doing burpees and pull-ups while watching this on ESPN 3.
I saw last years. I dig the Icelandic chick. Do you think they have it online?

I fill the tub with water, get in, pull the plug and fight the current.
ESPN 3 stream, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Pacific)
Spectator stream, 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m (Pacific)
Mrs. 1forAll is totally into crossfitting and currently developing her oly lifting skillset. She and some girls from her crossfit gym went to LA to watch the games live.
Its been interesting to see it developing into a “maintstream” sport with some major sponsors getting in behind it now.
Cool, thanks.
Annie Thorisdottir is currently in third place, only 5 points shy of first place. Foucher is only one point ahead of Annie, too. The women’s individual is a very tight three-way race right now.
It’s not nearly as tight in the men’s individual. Froning isn’t quite running away with it, but he’s got a decent lead.
Crossfit is a cult that is a terrible workout philosophy and dangerous and leads to overtraining. It’s one thing for a challenge here and there but for a long term workout program it’s incredibly bad and the people involved are misinformed cultists
Very cool, I wish I could be there; it looks like a lot of fun.
We had a girl from our box go to the regionals in Mass., but she got cut before the final workout.
I’m really new to CrossFit myself—just started in February—but I’m totally hooked. The Army is gradually adopting it (unofficially) as a fitness program, too.
Sure it is.
the people involved are misinformed cultists
Sure we are.
But at least I’ll have a GREAT looking corpse! :0)
As far as fitness goes, I think it is the most efficient.
If I were into it I would consider getting certified and paying the xfit annual membership and opening a gym myself. Its far from peaking and the popularity is exploding.
The buffet is more important to me. :{)
Neal Maddox is getting killed on the rope climb. He’s been no-repped several times now.
Same here. I still have a while before I can entertain such notions, but maybe it’ll still be real big in a few years.
8:27 finish (unofficial) in the rope climb/sled push event for Jason Khalipa. That...is amazing.
Dan Bailey dominated the shuttle sprint—no surprise there. He could really use those points!
And Matt Chan just beat Khalipa’s rope/sled time by about a minute—7:32 (unofficial)
