Olympian Lolo Jones is one of the best hurdlers in the world. She's athletic, she's attractive, she's fit ... and as she recently stated on Twitter, she's a virgin. The 29-year-old Jones, who has won gold medals at the World Indoor Championships twice, but is still searching for her first Olympic gold medal, openly discussed her virginity on HBO's "Real Sports," in an episode that airs on Tuesday night.
"It's just something, a gift I want to give to my husband," she told Mary Carillo. "But please understand: This journey has been hard. It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college.
"I've been tempted. I've had guys tell me 'If you have sex it will help you run faster.' I was like 'I do want this gold medal, but not yet. I do want to be married.'" Jones says she's turned to Twitter to fulfill her dating life, which is always a risky proposition.
"I'm waiting for the day where somebody totally tricks me with their Twitter picture ... they're using like an Abercrombie model, I show up on the date and it's like somebody from 'The Biggest Loser.'"
Yes, that means if you follow Lolo on Twitter (@lolojones), you might actually have a chance to date her.
Let's just hope her Twitter dates have turned out better than Chad Ochocinco's.
Way off with that comment. Kids look up to athletes and what they stand for.
How many well known athletes make a stand on purity like she is doing? Guarantee that stance doesn't help her career in this world.
Your attention is directed to post #11.
I’ll double that post number 11; and direct you to #22.
I see. Does your daughter pose for nudie phtographs?
no. There is nothing wrong with that picture.
OK. Maybe she’s a demure young maiden who just likes to pose for nude publicity photgraphs; but, then again, maybe she’s an attention whore.
Or, just perhaps, she's trying to set a much needed example for young women?
Me too, it’s sad.
Powers....I love sex. And I enjoy it with my wife.
But, in my misguided youth, I found many women who were waiting and it did not affect a courtship. As I used to say, there is more than way to skin a cat.
I am sure if I met you now, as long as you did not act like an all out prude, there would be no running for the hills.
My point is that it seems that the world is concerned with everyone elses sex life. And, even people who have accomplished so much more in their lives—such as this woman. I cannot imagine talking to her about her virginity.
I would be more impressed with her work out schedule, her training techniques and her journey to becoming a world class athlete.
The whole sex thing is just a simple, silly, distraction from a media that has absolutely no idea of how to do an interview.
“OK. Maybe shes a demure young maiden who just likes to pose for nude publicity photgraphs; but, then again, maybe shes an attention whore.”
Glad you can judge someone you have never met!!
I think people do that because they see it as an indirect indictment of their own choices. They went with the herd and popped their cherry because “it was the thing to do”, “it made a man/woman out of me”, etc...and maybe they didn’t really want to at the time, or they weren’t prepared for the emotional aftermath. So they rationalize it by telling themselves they had no choice, that nobody could have done otherwise.
All at once, here in front of ‘em is somebody who had the strength of character to stand apart from the herd. Being confronted with this reality, that they *could* have chosen differently and didn’t have the guts to make a stand when it mattered, is an emotional trigger that they have to beat down and bury at all costs. So, they denigrate anybody who chooses to do other than what they did.
“Im not looking anywhere;Ive been set up with men and I went out with them because I felt an obligation.”
A further thought...I have a friend, also Jewish (saw that on your page), who was going through the same thing not too long ago. Matchmakers, being set up by friends, singles dances and all that. All she was after, ultimately, was a guy who was decent and Jewish, and as she put it, “I was finding one or the other, but not BOTH!” And it was wearing her down too.
She met the man of her dreams—great guy, and half-Jewish-willing-to-convert—on a city bus while going to the library.
Keep your eyes open...never give up.
I’m sorry; I didn’t realize you knew her.
lol....funny
Good lord folks...these are for me anyhow...why I'm here...and I thank God everyday for country, culture, women and all they bring so wonderful to a man and the fruit of children
some of ya’ll oughta read up on this...Christians and Jews...it's in our books...
I absolutely relish women (my wife in particular now for many years)...I can't fathom how so many folks here appear so apathetic at worst or ambivalent at best.
Get out off yer couch tater butts and get some...there is nothing finer.
Another little truism the left anti marriage sorts hate....
Married folks in a good marriage have more sex...and better sex too.
and I had a lot of sex before marriage...sinfully I know...
God took my rib for a reason and I am so grateful to him for every high point to my life that simple act did for us men.
I just cannot imagine reconciling myself to not knowing the pleasure and intimacy that women grant us from their every little delicateness...their touch, their hair, their smell and skin and all those cute spots like small of back or delicate ankles or cleavage or any other some artful others intimate
only thing stop me from this is death, paralysis or the joint..or being too old....i guess it does happen...but you can still embrace and remember...if you built a good foundation
don't let life pass ya by without enjoying a fine woman...America is full of them...especially Dixie...even though I hate to admit it...we will share our surplus with right minded yankees
She looks damn good now to me.
