I went to vote in the Delaware primary today as a registered Republican. I was going to cast my vote for Governor Sarah Palin, as a write-in. After I entered the voting booth, I was told that write-ins are not permitted. I was not offered a provisional ballot, as they should have done. So I walked out without voting.
I have already called the Department of Elections, who referred me to my State Rep. No call back yet. Will keep you updated.
Just go vote for Newt.
The time to lobby for allowing write-ins is probably long passed.
You weren’t denied the right to vote. You chose not to vote for any of the available candidates.
SnakeDoc
Stay at the voting place and refuse to leave.
She is not a candidate. You must vote for a candidate
I don’t know what the laws are in Delaware. Write in votes have always been legal in Pennsylvania. I live in such a heavily Democrat county that often I have to write in because there is no Republican on the ballot for a lot of the local offices.
LOL.
You figure if he is arrested, he can’t post vanities?
Write-ins weren’t permitted in Virginia either. We had a wonderful choice between Ron Paul and Mitt Romney. Many voted against Romney, and Paul garnered 40 percent of the votes.
No write-ins in primaries here. It’s not an election.
You were not denied the right to vote, you could have voted. There was no candidate you chose to vote for so you left.
What about all the other offices? Did you not vote on those?
nobody pays any attention to write ins anyway. Palin is not in the primary, so writing her in is a waste.
And this is how we lose elections, over and over and over again.
to the one who DIDN’T vote because he couldn’t write in Sarah, I say VOTE!!!!!
You do this in November and YOU are the one of the reasons our country is in this awful state.
By failing to VOTE you FAIL. I wish I could print this in 72 point type.
You can read her books though.
Phooey!
>>You were not denied the right to vote, you could have voted. There was no candidate you chose to vote for so you left.

a) Who I vote for is my business, NOT some unelected bureaucrat telling me to vote for X or Y.
b) There were no other offices to vote in this a Presidential Primary. The State Primary I believe is in June, after the state convention of the RINOs.
Not having write-ins is not the same as being denied the right to vote.
Many states dont have write in choices. It is a waste of ink anyway.
Sarah Palin is not on the ballot. How were you denied your right to vote?
For XXXX’s sake! Who would Palin have voted for? Who did she cast her support to? Get back to the polls and cast a Republican vote! You can vote for Palin in November as a write-in, if you wish!
I don’t know about Delaware, but here in Virginia, write-ins aren’t allowed in primaries. But hey——at least you can vote for Newt. Here, my only choices were the liberal abortionist homo lover, or the doddering nutcase!
When you vote in an actual election you will have a write-in available.
Primaries are not elections.
Sarah's in the race, fighting against establishment BS.
And that establishment, in both parties, needs to go.
You were not denied the right to vote.
Your state does not permit write ins apparently.
You chose not to vote for one of the candidates listed.
If you do not like how candidates are placed on your state ballot, fight to change the process.
It's like the inmates have taken over and are tossing cr*p at everyone.
The fact is, primaries are also known as “party primaries.” Sadly, “the elite” wind up deciding that we have sufficient choice when we vote for either of their recommendations, Tweedle-Dee or Tweedle-Dum.
It ain’t gonna get any better until enough of us get involved to make a difference from the bottom (precinct level) up.
If and when I choose to do write-in, I carefully research the available candidates whom I can write in, because if I put in someone not on the eligible list, I figure they will toss my entire ballot and be happy about it.
Watching the freaks in December 2000 taught me that.
Something like that happened to me recently.
I was denied the right to Freedom of Religion!
I went to a Synagogue and asked to have my son baptized, AND THEY REFUSED! (I got a good deal on a circumcision though ...)
Is there a number I can call, or is there an app for that?
Vote for a real candidtae. Voting for Palin is like voting for Mickey Mouse at this point...it’s a wasted vote.
If you marked a paper ballot with a write-in, you have a spoiled ballot for that race. I don't know about the rules in Delaware, but in Texas one can spoil up to 2 paper ballots and still get a 3rd ballot as a replacement. The spoiled ballots have to be accounted for and are placed in a different box.
The issue is this was a party nomination. No one has a “right” to vote, as it is not the national election. The party decides who can (only registered, indys, all, or whatever) and whether you can vote for write ins. If you dont like the choices, there is no legal remedy.
By failing to VOTE you FAIL.
Typical anti-Palin snark from Sackofurea. Pathetic.
In a primary, you are selecting delegates pledged to support the candidate.
Candidates register their potential delegates with the party before the election.
If you write in “Palin” and she wins a delegate, just who do you suppose that delegate is supposed to be?
This isn’t Nam. There are rules.
Oh goody for you. You effectively added another vote for Mitt. Newt is not pleased.
PS, Palin wants your book money, not your vote!
Well, that’s not quite true, since Palin caucused for Newt in Alaska, I’m sure that at this point, Palin would prefer that Mr. Write-In Non-Voter vote for Newt.
Walking off in a huff doesn’t achieve anything except give Mittens another vote.
Best,
Chris
Did they at least offer you a provisional baptism? Sounds like you were definitely robbed of your freedom of religion, and a discounted circumcision hardly makes up for the violation of your rights. I'd suggest you write to Sarah Palin and ask for her help.
I heard the Rabbi mumble something about d'villa, but I think that he was asking me where I lived.
Sounds like you were definitely robbed of your freedom of religion, and a discounted circumcision hardly makes up for the violation of your rights.
I thought so as well. BTW, you ever hear of the Mitzva Bar? Sounds russian. The Rabbi said he was looking forward to seeing me there.
I'd suggest you write to Sarah Palin and ask for her help.
Good idea, I've got her on speed dial ...
Well, I didn’t really mean it as a dig on Palin. They all have books of course! I have two of hers.
Point is the infantile take-my-ball-home attitude of voting for someone who NOT ONLY HAS TOLD YOU THEY AIN’T RUNNING, but second, has told you that they will support ABO....INCLUDING ROMNEY.
So if you want to make a protest vote, it’s idiotic to do it for someone who would end up supporting the candidate you’re supposedly protesting.
At least Newt and Mittens have put out the effort to run. Palin really underwhelms me this time.
Think about it. Jim Rob has said he would zot anyone who campaigned for Romney. But anyone who runs home and effectively gives assistance to Romney as a net plus-one-vote get’s a free vanity post. And in the near future, if there’s a Palin op-ed for Romney, a post with her article will be banned from FR! Bizarro.
Just go back the voting place, scan the list of candidates for Newt’s name and then check it off - problem solved.
GO BACK AND VOTE FOR NEWT!
TODAY IS NOT THE DAY FOR THIS
STOPPING ROMNEY IS KEY TODAY

Go back to vote for Newt to take it to the convention to get to Sarah Palin’s nomination for President!
Whine, whine, whine.
Its a party primary, not an election. “Rights” are different animals in primaries. You don’t have the right to vote in a primary ... many are restricted to just members of the party, and many States restrict you to those on the ballot.
You chose not to vote.
SnakeDoc
Why don’t you just for Newt (like Sarah and Todd Palin actually did in Alaska), that way you can stick it to Mitt and actually might make a difference!?
Did you ask for one? Not all poll workers are up on the procedures as they should be, and some from the opposing party might "inadvertently" fail to mention it.
You DID vote, you voted “none of the above.” I hope you made sure your ballot was destroyed or otherwise made unavailable for someone else to enter a choice.
You don’t get provisional ballot if you want to vote for a non candidate. One has to have qualified for the ballot as a write in candidate before you can write them in.
No state law states how one can qualify as a write in candidate she did not run to be a write in therefore you can’t vote for her.Has nothing to do with your right to vote. She isn’t running to be voted for.
