He is so good in debates! Why the heck put conditions on it?! Newt can take Obama even if the moderator is biased, heck it didn’t stop him before, did it? Why say this?! He did wonderfully putting John King in his place.

You are correct. The GOP establishment AND ALL establishments, gummint, media, corprat, are afraid of the race card, which trumps everything including national security. If Obomba wins in November, it’ll only get worse. He’ll be followed by a stupid Chicano broad, or some other shouter, as the percentage of moochers will only grow in the next 4 years from the current 47%.

If he does that he will destroy Obama. Obama is a liar and gets away with it because the media, including Fox news, will not challenge his lies.
All good points, but he shouldn’t have to debate the moderators or field unfair, compound questions and “How long since you quit beating your wife? gotcha!” questions.
At least one of moderators should be posing honest questions, not softballs but questions the public wants discussed. Maybe Brit Hume or someone like him.
Otherwise he’ll come off as contentious and argumentative while The One will be portrayed as reasonable/statesmanlike, and that’s what the left wants.
I’m just agreeing with him. Who wants to carry on a dialogue with people who despise you? Apparently he doesn’t and I don’t blame him, or maybe as others have pointed out he’s just sucking them in.
Like you say, maybe he could pull off a Truman: “I’m not giving them hell. I’m just telling the truth and they think it’s hell.”
Go to the enemy’s home court and smoke his ass.

Seriously, sounds like Newt is scared of debates now. If Romney had said the same thing, he would be getting trashed, vs cheered on. A lot of hypocrisy on FR these days. I think we saw last week, Newt is not the great debater he thought he was. His cranky old grandpa routine is starting to wear on some.
I loved Newt when he was trashing the media and focused on Obama. He’d make a great president. Trends don’t look good tho....
I don’t know what alternate world you are living in, because a world where Rush and Palin were the moderators will never materialize.
The point I have been trying to make is that we all know the MSM will throw softballs to the democrat candidate and hardballs to the republican candidate.
Knowing that, why does the republican candidate even answer the questions set up by the media ? Just ignore it and use your time to vet Obama. After all he is standing there right beside you. Make him sweat and embarrass the media at the same time.
Just bypass the media and make your own points and hopefully it will turn into Newt and Obama questioning each other.

You're making my point for me.
Why do you think democrats would NEVER debate in front of Rush and Hannity? Do you think Rush is incapable of pretending to be "objective"? He would be better at that than George Stephanopoulos... all our guys would be able to 'do the deception' - at least as well as - if not better than - liberals do it. You've stopped seeing what liberal (so called) journalist do as a lie - you're so used to it.
Also democrats could have all the "fun and advantages' you speak of - knowing they would get the hardballs. According to you they should be thrilled with such an opportunity. With that logic, I have to ask the obvious - what alternate world are you living in?
Except that we are used to getting the hardballs.
The democrats have never had that experience. They would be flummoxed and tongue-tied and shown to be the idiots they are.
Besides Newt is smarter than any of them.
But you miss my main point. Our guys in debate should just ignore the gotcha questions from the MSM. There is no law saying we have to answer their questions.
All Newt has to do is take command of the stage, bypass the inquisitors, and vet Obama in front of millions.
