We have squirrels. One has very pale coloring. We asked the vet about it today. He was quite surprised, said it was type of albino variation. We leave apple slice out for the in the winter. Vet told us on his property up north on an island he saw some black squirrels with a white stripe down their backs. There are certain animals that don’t live on the island, being isolated (no skunks). He thinks they a new variant. All animals are such a wonder to watch.

I agree...I sit in wonder, and I smile...each spring when the bluebirds return...The cardinals stay all witer, as do the nuthatches and chickadees and the MANY Mourning doves.....hell, I even applaude the red tailed hawk that comes to the deck now and then to “smell” potential prey...
Lately, they just fly to the tree on the other side of the deck when I fill the feeders...and I may be wrong, but I like to think their singing to me as I fill them, is their way of waying thanks, as opposed to “What the hell took you so long!” ;-) LOL

I had the pure pleasure of spending my youth with a black lab that my dad saved.......in the 50’s, if a dog was not claimed the sheriff shot it....the Sheriff called my dad and damn near begged him to take the pup....we did....and had the BEST black lab for 16 years!!! I still miss him...he taugh tme how to hunt...or more correctly, he taught me how to stay put during a hunt, so he didnt have to sniff me out too, when got lost ;-)
