>>>So if one of your cows escaped, you would have no problem with a stranger shooting them, correct?<<<<
So long as that stranger doesn’t have a problem with me, my neighbors, or the local deputies shooting him/her, no.
Livestock =/= pets. Wyoming has laws to that effect, too.
If my cows get loose then one of my neighbors will let me know and I’ll have to go get them corralled and any damage they cause while they’re loose I’m responsible for.
For some reason, though, city folks like to move out here and let their dogs and cats roam and they think they have no responsibility for any damages their pets cause. It’s been a few years but we had a golden retriever chase one of our stud bulls and the bull ended up breaking a leg and it had to be put down. Hubby shot the dog, of course.
The owner showed up looking for the dog and found it dead in the back of our pickup and then called the sheriff.
End result was they admitted that this was their dog and their home owners insurance had to pay us $85,000 for the bull.
I really don’t care what you do in your city, but if you come out to the country you keep your dogs and cats in your yard because it is not a joke when they come into my yard. I don’t want your dog chasing my cattle and I don’t want your stupid cat chasing my chickens or fighting with my barn cats.
I want to believe you, but if you could post some pix of that perfect creature, that would be great!
Damn Straight!!!!!
Ok, come to my house and kill me then.
wait til they board your boat like nazis
While I understand your rebuttal, I would wonder if this points to a real problem of these agencies seeking to keep their stats up and funding / personnel safe. We see police cracking down on lemonade stands and Girl Scout cookie sales and have to ask if that a good use of LEO resources? Law Enforcement is to fight CRIME and this does not meet that criteria. If this mother fights this idiocy in court as I hope she will, it could end up costing these bureaucrats far more than just money, it will cost respect for fair dealing - an irreplaceable commodity.
True!
Gee, you sound like a swell guy!
These are the agencies that the GOP can’t cut and so we have to raise the debt ceiling.
Our pet cat is pretty well fed, but still likes to munch on the squirrels she catches.
MeganC,
You are the Neighbor everyone wishes they had.
City Folks should never move to “the country”!
God Bless and stay safe.
???
Woodpecker meets Peckerwood from government.
>>>Gee, you sound like a swell guy!<<<
Sadly, it is true that I’m more of a man than the average Democrat you’ll meet these days.
:-P
Thanks! I was born a city chick but became a country hen!
Apparently that is him. I thought that someone was offering a picture of the official mentioned in the article posted.
The blame is with those who keep insisting that the function of government is to fine tune every aspect of our lives. For one thing you are right such codswallop is a waste of LEO resources. It is also wrong that no distinction is made between good intent (rescuing the bird) and bad intent of an action. There is no reason why exceptions can not be written into the law. I assume there must be one to cover wildlife rehab centers.
Oftne the people who write laws have no clue on how those laws will translate in real life application. The application of laws is usually left to beaurecrats who have rule making authority. They in turn tell their officers how the law is too be enforced. Unless the law is written plainly enough to leave no room for doubt or for embellishment you end up with such sights as police ticketing lemonade stands.
That is BTK.
Did he shoot the bird, just to make sure there was no chance he would be pecked?
Got a boat?
