Worst Acting in a Major Movie (Name your examples)
Self | June 26, 2011 | PJ-Comix

I was just watching the original "True Grit" starring John Wayne. Yes, he deserved his Oscar for the role of Rooster Cogburn but opposite him was someone who played his part horribly. I am talking about Glenn Campbell as the Texas Ranger. Sheesh! Talk about stilted delivery. Really bad. Another example of bad acting was also in a John Wayne movie---"The Alamo." It was Frankie Avalon as Smitty who was supposed to be a young Tennessee frontiersman. I like Frankie Avalon in the beach flicks but, let's face it, he was waaay too urban to be believable in the role of Smitty. Whenever I see "The Alamo," it is impossible to forget that this is just a movie because of Frankie Avalon's completely unconvincing acting.

There are many other major movies with examples of really horrible acting. I cited a couple of such examples, so please list yours.

I think his accent just didn’t cut it in the film. In every fight in every movie the noises he makes are very annoying. I guess I just don’t care for his acting. Glad you enjoy it though.

--- the woman who played Deanna Troy ---

Her name is Marina Sirtis and, yes, it was one of the all time lows. Then again the script writer that wrote her lines may well be as much to blame as she was.

Jack Black in Peter Jackson’s version of King Kong. And the monkey ties him for worst.

Perhaps the worst movie I’ve ever suffered through.

If you took Val Kilmer’s “Doc Holliday” out of “Tombstone” it would have been a boring film.

Michael “Fatso” Moore in every movie he ever made. An Alfred Hitchcock and Mel Brooks he ain’t. Mikey needs to stick to eating donuts and pizza and let the actors in his “movies” try to make his communist propaganda films believable.

Oooh, I had nearly seared that from my memory. Even Andy Garcia couldn't draw me back in to re-watch that performance.

John Wayne playing a WWI German ship’s captain in “The Sea Chase” (1955). While one of Hollywood’s truly greats, the Duke had a tin ear for accents and sounded just as believably German as he later sounded like a real Mongolian.

“Well, Auf, uh, wiedersehen, Fatherland. Don’t know when I’ll see ya again, pilgrim.”

How about the middle section of Saving Private Ryan, where we meet Private Ryan and he turns out to be Matt Damon playing Matt Damon.

Ha. I saw the remake of The Haunting mainly because of CZJ. That was bad throughout.
