Too cold for cars to start. Even with a pan of burning diesel fuel placed under the oil pan to try to warm it up.

Uhhh...okay.

Years ago I had a dipstick heater to warm the oil. Guess those were outlawed cuz they disappeared.

Never did it myself. But I seen it done.

Most newer cars will start.

But poor people have poor ways.

I have put my car battery in my (heated) shed before (over the weekend) to keep it from freezing.

I have a heater in my lower radiator hose in my ‘86 Dodge pickup. But it’s up at my brother’s and I doubt he cares enough to plug it in.

Up in North Dakota we had engine block heaters installed (they replaced one of the freeze plugs) and had an electric battery heater. I also put in a trickle charger.

Without those items you probably would never get the engine to turn over.
