Hughes went 4+ innings and resp. for at least 6 runs. Joba in now, 5th inning, runner at 3rd for Rangers no out
TX 7 - NY 2 in the 6th.
Taking a short break from college football to see some of this game.
the other ALCS/NLCS thread...oh well
Found it. Whew. The 6th was tough inning for the Rangers.
Hang in there, cow pokes.
Jeez yer kinda late posting this thing!
Jeez Kinsler! they were right down the middle!
yeah should have done it yesterday before gm 1
Who’s on first?
This just in, Auburn 65, Arkansas 43
This was NOT a pitcher’s duel.
Nice fielding! Texas retires the Yankers!
TX handed Neb their first loss of the season.
"Don't get smart"
Looks like Rangers survived the eighth inning this time. It will probably be their only win though.
Looking forward to Halladay vs. Lincecum tonight. That should be a great duel.
Yes, should be a great matchup. Both have good pitching but the Phils have the bats. Although they were 3-3 vs each other during the regular season.
Let’s go Giants!!!!
Ironically enough a PBS station in Boston is showing Rain Man right now—scene had “Raymond” getting nervous and when he does he keeps doing Who’s on First.
Will history be made, first postseason home win for Rangers?
Yankees lose! Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Yankees lose!
San Francisco. Love their team, hate their politicians!
Yep! The Freak!
I was happy to see Barry Zito is not on the Giants playoff roster for the NLSC. Sometimes you just have to know when to man up and cut your losses. The Giants sure could use that 17 million a year they are paying him to purchase some hitting.San Francisco should hold a parade when his contract expires.
Howard double to start btm 2nd. Can Giants match Phillies offense?
NEW YORK (AP)Cablevision and Fox parent News Corp. left the negotiating table without a deal Saturday, giving 3 million customers in the New York metropolitan area little hope of watching the first game of baseballs National League Championship Series from their couch.
Both sides met throughout the afternoon Saturday but adjourned before the start of the playoff game between the Phillies and the San Francisco Giants, said Cablevision spokesman Jim Maiella. Negotiators plan to meet again Sunday.
The stalemate that led to Fox pulling its channels and, briefly, online content from subscribers in parts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut early Saturday was the latest in a series of programming fee disputes that have led to blackouts of programs such as the Oscars. But the impasse amounted to more than corporate wrangling for Bronx resident Clifford Taylor.
We live for sports, Taylor said. Die-hard New Yorker fans, we love to see the Yankees and Giants play.
Hard-core hometown fans like Taylor could still hold out hope: No New York teams were scheduled for games broadcast on Fox until Sunday, when the New York Giants play the Detroit Lions. The American League Championship Series between the Yankees and Texas Rangers, which began Friday, is airing on TBS and isnt affected by the dispute.
Phils have squared up on some balls so far this game. Still very early, but that seems to bode well.
I am just hoping the Giants pitching can suppress their bats through the series. If they can, I think we will see a lot of low scoring games with either team winning by one run.
Giants up 1-0 on Ross HR, first hit given up by Halladay in
post season (of course his only start in NLDS was no hitter)
John and Te-ray-za Kerry as he prepares to do a first pitch at Fenway Park. Kerry when asked to name his fave Sox player: "I tell ya. Manny Ortez..Manny Ortez, DAVID Ortez..."
Pelosi, bats left, throws left.I rather see Pelosi thrown out. Yes, Cory has been on fire!
Offensive show tonight? Ruiz HR, 1-1
Ross HR again 2-1 Giants
Sounds like Phillies fans are doing the “wolf whistle” at
Lincecum’s long hair!
Itsa game of inches.
4-1 Giants—low scoring affairs? So far, if you’re talking Phillies it is, but Giants are starting to put this one away
4-3, Werth HR
Lots of offense, like AL games in some ways...no pitchers’ duel
Color me surprised. No sleepy bats for the Giants this evening.
No team so embodies Ancient Baseball as the New York Giants. The team of Christy Mathewson, Joe McGinnity, John McGraw, and Mel Ott was once a major (perhaps the major) powerhouse in the Majors. What storied baseball field conjures up images of mustachioed "batsmen," "Casey at the Bat," and Cracker Jack than the Polo Grounds?
I haven't watched a World Series in a long, long time. If I do I'll root for the National League team (as always).
Even if the Phillies win, considering that prior to 1980 they appeared in only two World Series (1915 and 1950) and lost them both, I don't really mind their success of recent decades.
Giants win 4-3. As with last night’s ALCS game 1, the visitors take the first game
game 2 8 pm ET tomorrow
Well, at least I got the part right about the teams winning by one run although a higher scoring game than expected when you consider both teams started their aces.
yes, I was figuring 3-2 or 4-3 or something but for a moment it looked like it’d be something like 8-6, 7-6 etc.!
Still a few hours off but let’s ping for tonight
San Francisco 92-70 (Road: 43-38)
Philadelphia 97-65 (Home: 52-29)
8:19 PM ET
FOX/ESPN Radio/Phillies and Giants radio networks
SF: J. Sanchez (0-0, NA)
PHI: R. Oswalt (0-0, NA)
Giants lead series 1-0
Thanks for the ping. Niners starting now...Afraid to even watch.
Tim Tebow scored his first NFL TD, against the Jets.
Congrats Tim, Go J-e-t-s!
almost a grand slam by Rollins, bases clearing double
6-1 Phillies bottom 7th
