The Minnesota Twins were also the Senators at one time. So the Yankees got a double dose of the Senators this year.

Yes and I think I noted before that had the Twins (unlikely vs Yankees) and Rangers (they did) won their respective rounds you'd have both former Senators teams "from the modern era" facing each other (I'm talking 1900-on but yes there was an early Wash. Senators team too as you mention.

Just looked up in Wikipedia: the last Wash Senators (team that became Rangers) game was 9/30/71...thousands got in without paying as security guards left early (swelling attendance from 14k to 25k)... fans stormed the field for souvenirs, including first base, and umpires wound up forfeiting (9-0) the game to the opponent--the same franchise Tex. can beat today for the pennant (or in gms 6 or 7 if nec.); the New York Yankees.

Teddy Ballgame as Senators mgr, '69

I had forgotten Ted Williams was a manager.

I remember Mike Epstein and Frank Howard. I believe they would paint the seats where their homers landed.

I also remember the O’s could never beat the Senators.

Wow, the umpiring in the NLCS is atrocious. How can 6 umpires have missed that balk?

Of course, it’s looking like the Giants could just put their bats on their shoulders and have a team .500 OBP against Blanton today. He’s pitching like Rick Vaughn out there.

Really was. When the Phillies tied the ballgame, I had to go outside my house and take a breather. I was hoping for no extra innings.

Go Giants tomorrow. The Phillies may have Ron Halladay, but they can’t hit even if their life depended on it.

I know what you mean! Well, the Giants have crawled inside the Phillies’ heads...

Robby Thompson on KTVU now - one of my all-time favorite Giants. He, Clark and Williams are good luck.

Loved what Krukow just said: “This wasn’t torture... this was freakin’ FUN!”

Wooooo!

Too bad I don’t get KTVU as I am in El Dorado Hills (45 mins. from Sacramento on Hwy 50). I used to watch Fox and listen to KNBR everyday.

Did you know that Will Clark now works for the SF Giants front office?

Sorry about that... I’m listening to FP Santangelo and Marty Lurie on KNBR right now.

I had heard about Will being a hitting instructor in (?) A-Ball, but didn’t know he was in the front office. Excellent. i’ve got a lot of respect for him.

Am listening to them as well — online, not radio. OK, I have calmed down and will to sleep. Will talk to you tomorrow — right after the Giants win the NLCS.

Go Giants! Go Tim Lincecum!

BTW - Philly meda is now saying Phillies in 7.

We’ll see!

I just hope that Kuip has a darn good throat remedy!

I heard on KNBR this morning that Juan Uribe is the late Jose Uribe’s nephew... he was the big missing piece from that 89 infield that was at the game last night. Poetic that Juan U. hit the winning sac fly :)

Let’s go Giants and #55! (Timmay!)

To: bootless; GSWarrior; raccoonradio; chuckee; Zionist Conspirator; Canedawg; mylife; sissyjane; ...

sorry if I didn’t ping yesterday but I’ll do so today to make sure. Here’s the situation:

TONIGHT—ALCS
NY Yankees 95-67 (Road: 43-38)
Texas 90-72 (Home: 51-30) TV: TBS
8:07 PM ET
NYY: P. Hughes (0-1, 15.75)
TEX: C. Lewis (1-0, 3.18)

If Texas wins, they have AL pennant; if NY wins a game
7 takes place tomorrow night in Texas

NLCS
Phillies forced a game 6 in Phila. tomorrow. The game
would be at 8 pm IF there is no need for an ALCS Game 7.
Otherwise NLCS game 6 would be at 4 pm (all times Eastern)
on Sat. And if Phillies win that the deciding game 7
would be on Sunday night.

WS I believe starts next Wed
1)next Wed at NL
2)Thu at NL
Off Friday
3)Sat at AL
4)Sun at AL
5)Mon at AL
Off Tue
6) Wed at NL
7) Thu at NL 5, 6, 7 of course if necc.

The Yankees are short on pitching.....that’ll be they’re downfall.

No kidding! According to what raccoonradio posted this a.m., the Wankers starter for tonight has an ERA of 15.75....???
