Don’t Know Much About History? (26% Do Not Know Who We Declared Ind. From)
Marist Poll ^ | July 2, 2010 | Staff

There’s good news for American education. About three-quarters of residents — 74% — know the U.S. declared its independence from Great Britain in 1776. The bad news for the academic system — 26% do not. This 26% includes one-fifth who are unsure and 6% who thought the U.S. separated from another nation. That begs the question, “From where do the latter think the U.S. achieved its independence?” Among the countries mentioned are France, China, Japan, Mexico, and Spain.

We need to declare our independence from Mexico by deporting or imprisoning ALL illegal aliens, including their anchor babies, sealing/securing the border and SHOOTING anyone who tries to re-enter illegally. I am so sick of hearing Spanish at the local Wal-MArt I could barf.

From the looks of the goods for sale in stores, it looks like China now.

“China, Japan”

People give joke answers to these surveys, because they are a joke.

Twenty-six percent is almost about the same number of hardcore communists that vote Democrat no matter what. Interesting.

I am certain that most of these people who don't know we declared independence from England could probably name every American Idol winner and runner-up since the first season. It's all about prioritizing what is ‘important’ to know.

I’d bet $100 that no one could find even ONE homeschooler over the age of 10 that didn’t know the answers to when and who from our independence was won.
Unless it was a case of mental handicap. Not one I betcha.
