Nuclear Physicist Describes Vast UFO Cover-Up
aolnews ^ | 6-7 | Lee Speigel

Posted on 06/07/2010 1:39:25 PM PDT by JoeProBono

"Some UFOs are intelligently controlled extraterrestrial spacecraft, and this is the biggest story of the millennium."

These words are not the rantings of a deranged individual looking for attention or a comfortable straitjacket. Stanton Friedman is a maverick of sorts.

Employed for 14 years as a nuclear physicist for companies like General Electric, General Motors, Westinghouse and Aerojet General Nucleonics, he worked on highly classified programs involving nuclear aircraft, fission and fusion rockets.

In 1958, UFOs caught his attention, and Friedman has since lectured about this subject at more than 700 colleges and professional groups in all 50 states and around the world.

Nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman has devoted more than 50 years to pursuing the scientific truth of UFOs, and was the original civilian investigator of the legendary 1947 Roswell, N.M., incident. "After 53 years of investigation, I'm convinced we're dealing here with a cosmic Watergate," he told AOL News. "That means a few people within major governments have known since at least 1947 that some UFOs are alien spacecraft."

In Friedman's new book, "Science Was Wrong," co-authored with Kathleen Marden, he wrote, "There's been no shortage of strong, negative proclamations from debunking groups and individuals who refuse to examine the evidence ... to support the notion that some UFOs are of extraterrestrial origin."

Friedman cites many cases of UFO encounters experienced by competent, reliable eyewitnesses, including one involving Japan Airlines.

Courtesy of Stanton Friedman One of the most credible sightings of a UFO in history is from a series of images taken aboard the Brazilian ship Almirante Saldanha on Jan. 16, 1958. The Saturn-shaped object was witnessed by the ship's crew and several scientists. The UFO approached the island, making a steep turn before flying away quickly. Juscelino Kubitschek, then president of Brazil, confirmed the authenticity of the photos. "A 747 over Alaska encountered something that was twice the size of an aircraft carrier, that flew circles around the jet. They reported it to the ground, where both the UFO and the 747 were picked up on radar.

"The explanation from debunkers was that it was Jupiter! Boy, airplane radar can pick up Jupiter? It was totally ludicrous. You're fighting the forces of 'evil,' one might say -- arrogance and ignorance."

While some scientists through the years have quietly suggested Earth has been visited by ETs, Friedman is the most outspoken. He's especially irked by the attitude of scientists who use radio and optical telescopes in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, such as the SETI Institute in California.

"Their livelihood depends on the assumption that there's nobody coming here, and if we just wait long enough, we're going to pick up the signal and it'll be the greatest discovery in man's history, and it will help solve all our problems.

"What really bothers me is that the SETI people will tell you there is no evidence for UFOs. Well, they certainly don't reference any, so there must not be, right? Wrong!"

If so, why would reputable scientists refuse to consider that Earth may be a vacation spot for otherworldly travelers?

"Because they'd have to admit that they'd ignored such a big story for so long and that they were wrong," Friedman said. "Being wrong is something that scientists don't like to admit at all........."

One of the best UFO pictures ever taken, this object was photographed by Paul Trent over his McMinnville, Ore., farm in May 1950. A subsequent Air Force investigation determined that "an extraordinary flying object, silvery, metallic, disk-shaped, tens of meters in diameter and evidently artificial, flew within sight of two eyewitnesses."

Friedman is a good man. I disagree with him about the Majestic documents (I think they’re frauds), but he’s right about the essential story...about 1% of the sightings are made by trained, intelligent witnesses with nothing to gain by such a report, and often much to lose.

There’s something there.

Jesus said we would know the last days by the return of the Jews to their homeland...and as in the days of Noah...the return of the Nephilem (sp?).

Stanton Friedman does have some good work but his beliefs about Reptilian shape shifters occupying high levels of government and society are a little... peculiar.

Stanton Freidman is a former debunker who "turned".

Some people ("certain experts") assert he's a disinfo agent.

Me? I figure he's a reptilian from Arcturus. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he's from Proxima Centauri.

Also, I don't think UFOs are, predominantly, metal ships from other planets. They don't have the characteristics that fit that paradigm. They're more likely something far outside our current understanding of reality, more akin to ghosts or Sliders.

There is life on the surface of the Earth. There is life below the ground. There is life below the ocean.

Why would there not be ‘life’ existing in the very atmosphere?

A life form based more on electrostatic energy, than on a solid, physical body?

We humans only ‘think’ we know it all. We don’t.

To find out that human beings are alien hybrids, that there is no ‘eternal bliss or damnation’, would turn the planet into a gory, murderous landscape.

Especially if it came at a time when the world’s economies are all insolvent, and basic taken-for-granted comforts were suddenly interrupted.

Lawlessness.

And I’ve actually seen one.

I did also, from a back yard in Green Valley, Az. It was a particularly festive sphere, multicolored and rotating. Watched it through binoculars at a good distance to the southwest for a half hour to the accompaniment of multiple jet flights overhead. Don't know what it was, but a craft from another part of the galaxy wouldn't be my first guess.

Most people who have spent enough time looking at the sky, i.e. amateur astronomes, have seen a few weird things. They tend to be the skeptical type who don’t jump to conclusions. The big black triangle I saw floating overhead without making so much as a sound could have been other things besides a ship full little grey men. Maybe something the government is keeping secret, who can say? If aliens are industrious enough to cross a hundred trillion miles of frozen vacuum to get here, don’t they have anything better to do than kidnap cows at night, or show a peculiar disposition for anal probing?

UFO& Aliens... the Easter Bunny for adults.
I listened to Art Bells show for a long time before I caught on. Alot of the Art Bell guests are just ‘Story Tellers’ like Mr Frisby (Andy Devine) in the Twilight Zone. There is no proof for these things and these things dont require ‘belief’ as does religion. In the last 50 years, with video cameras and 3+ billion people on the planet, no one has concrete evidence that these things exist except through photography which can be misinterpreted and faked. I think I’ve been rather generous in the last 50 years of waiting, but at some point as an adult you have to ‘go figuring on things’.

Riiiight. But there is much insanity lurking just beneath the surface of the convoluted mind. In the ongoing battle between intelligence and insanity sometimes an uneasy truce arises and the forces from each side wander over the territory of the other.
The most elemental and simple questions of logic are left out of the fray, to wit:
Why? Why here? Why a disc? Why a cheese platter tossed in front of a camera? Why the appeal?

It may well be that those are indeed alien vehicles. I don't oppose (or support) this idea. It's just one of those possibilities. There is no reason why there can't be life somewhere else and there is no reason why that life can't observe us.

What's important here is simply the fact that those observations do not matter. Once we admit that aliens may exist, their presence is irrelevant - until they choose to make a contact and shower us with gifts of science and technology. They'd be fools to do that to us today. Humanity is split into thousands of warring tribes, and any gift of science will be used as a weapon in a millisecond.

So in my opinion continued observations of UFOs carry no information (in terms of Claude Shannon.) As long as they take care to not crash into our airplanes and other objects, they are welcome to observe. We can't compel them to reveal themselves, so we just need to accept their presence (if they do exist; if not, then there is nothing to talk about.)

...It makes me question the validity of every single UFO report ever made. And I’ve actually seen one.

So have I. When I was a teenager, I happened to see something in the air that did not look 'right', and as luck would have it, I had within reach a cheap plastic camera (the kind that used to take 127 size black and white film), and I managed to snag 3 pictures while furiously turning the film advance knob, and this is what I saw in 1968:
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Now I don't care if anyone wants to p*ss all over this, because I know what I saw, I took the pics, and I've never seen anything like it before or since. The object moved at a speed far beyond jet aircraft, and being in Montgomery County Maryland at the time, I was no stranger to seeing a lot of jet traffic both civilian and military flying overhead. Anyway, that's my story and I'm still sticking to it 42 years later.

SJB? Thought you might get a kick out of this.

Interestingly enough, I have also seen a UFO and I feel exactly as you do. The very subject of UFO's draws frauds, attention whores and the mentally ill the way the flame of a candle draws moths. I feel there is something going on but I refuse to speculate beyond that point.

I was at a private dinner several years ago with a very famous and high-level member of a recent administration and had a private conversation with this person. I asked him two questions, the second of which was "do UFO's exist?" He replied that (and I paraphrase) "...there are things that are seen in the sky that are unidentified and so....". I could see where this was going so I then interrupted and rephrased the question, asking him if there was evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence. He then stated with "well, there are many definitions of intelligence....". So, basically, he evaded the question. I shared the highlights of this conversation later with a family member who was present and they replied "you got your answer".
