First, the Dallas Cowboys' Web site said that they were going to keep Wade Phillips. Then the team said that wasn't official yet. At the end of the day, though, Phillips is still the head coach for the Dallas Cowboys.
Wade Phillips' contract option was picked up and Jerry Jones added two more years to the deal.
Phillips is 33-15 in three years with Dallas and has a major playoff win over the division rival Philadelphia Eagles.
He has taken this team's defense to second overall in the entire NFL. Seven Cowboys are going to the Pro Bowl this year. More can come in if certain players choose to not participate and the Dallas alternate can go instead.
The Cowboys have been known as a team that not only couldn't win it all, but couldn't even stay in the dance. Wade Phillips changed that, and the Cowboys have rewarded him by keeping him in Dallas.
The Cowboys are in the right system now with a playoff win. I cannot wait for next season.
Didn't want the title to be confused with FR's breaking news.
GREAT!...............GO COWBOYS!.................
to bad ..

He’s back as long as the Cowboys still make the playoffs.
I guarantee if they go 6-10 next season he won’t be back after that.
And if you look at their schedule next season, it is brutal.

I had Wade getting his walking papers after their azz whipping by the Vikes.
Great news though, it about guarantees the Cowboys will make the playoffs but blow it.
Now, what about Romo?
I understand he has an application in at Whataburger for assistant frier.

I’ll definitely be there for the Lions game. I’ll the be the one wearing the bag over his head.
As an Eagles’ fan, I am happy Mister Phillips got the extension.
Seriously...can anyone actually watch him during a game with respect?
He still looks the same as he did when coaching the Bronco's...
His facial expression is that of being the last person in the stadium to know what the heck is going on during the game....
That was SO annoying...he just looks...lost...all the time...
After 3 thumpings this year, you are happy Wade is coming back? PHI always plays tough, but this was definitely the Cowboys year in that rivalry
I believe that's called Brett Favre Syndrome.
The Lions won last trip down to Dallas - who knows what next year holds.
As a Redskin fan I am very happy Mister Phillips is being retained and would like to thank him for employing Sean Suisam during the playoffs. The karma pay back for Suisam missing two field goals to defeat the Cowboys was enjoyed when he missed two field goals against the Vikes. Wow - them Cowboys are something - 3 points scored. Hail to the Redskins, and thankyou to Phillips for being marginally acceptable to Jones to allow us to get Shanahan.
Actually the only thing that saved Wade was he finally got smart and took over the defense. He may suck as a head coach, but nobody will question that he is a great defensive coordinator.
Hoping he blows it against my Saints.
Yet the old man tore apart that defenseless Cowboy team this past weekend.
That is true, the Lions always seem to play well against Dallas for some reason. Maybe all those draft picks we got for Roy Williams will come through.
