He did one book with Schmitt that pretty much singlehandedly revived the topic (it fell off the map back at the time it happened; Frank Edwards revived it once, briefly, in the 1960s), then turned on Schmitt when one of the witnesses couldn’t be found. Meanwhile, Randle and Schmitt came under some fire and suspicion by Stanton Friedman; Larry King had that broadcast from the desert near Area 51, and Randle, Friedman, that dentist, and Glenn Campbell were all on the show and managed to mostly get along together, but I don’t remember Friedman and Randle every speaking to one another or even looking politely in each other’s direction. :’)

Perhaps ten years ago Randle did a sort of encyclopedia of UFOs (in fact, maybe that’s what the title is, can’t recall) and that one is enough to make one wonder just why he bothers to write about UFOs at all — unless he’s got a private agenda (which is the only proper conclusion to draw, IMHO).

That said, the general craziness of the field is enough to drive away pretty much anyone (also IMHO), and drive anyone who stays in it out of their minds. Years ago already, the late Betty Hill stopped speaking at UFO conventions because (more or less a quote here) of the mean-spiritedness and looniness of the attendees.

I’d forgotten all that garbage and may not have seen the Larry King show.

I respect Friedman a lot. Have talked with him at some length several times.

However, he seems sold out to the ALIENS MAY HELP SAVE US FROM OURSELVES globalist delusion.
