Think of where you were eight years ago and where you are now? Are you better off?

Markedly.

I've gotten a graduate degree, successfully led and completed several milestone projects for my employer, and gotten a number of promotions and bonuses and a three-fold increase in salary as a result (oh yeah, I also kicked cancer's ass).

But most importantly, my children are healthy, reasonably happy, and creeping along on their own roads to success.

On the down side however, I did lose a wife. But as it turned out, she really wasn't worth keeping anyway (I guess something about “sharing her” with her boss just turned me off), so I'm definitely better off w/o her.

Yes and no. I have a better job, nicer home, two kids in college. The last year however has been tough for my husband to find work. Thankfully with a lot of prayer he went back to work full time last week and things look like they will get better and be better without the help of The One.

Definitely, but I don’t know how much is based on GWB’s policies. Three major things Bush can be credited for: tax cuts, SC appointees, and no major terrorist attack since 9/11.

I have to agree. I am better off now then 8 years ago, not because of anything our elected officials have done, but because of hard work. I will be better off 8 years from now then I am today, again not because of the actions or lack of actions from DC, but because of the dedication of my wife and kids to live better today then they did yesterday.

I don't rely on government "handouts". (except my military pay) I pay all my bills, all six of us get to eat, and we are happy what more could you ask for?

Reality states, I’m better off, but the COUNTRY certainly is not! How can in the face of Compassionate Conservatism, and probably one of the most generous, well-mannered, Presidents we’ve seen recently in history, can this country be in such an amplifying morally debased mode?

I'm not getting rich, but I have a job I enjoy and am appreciated by my fellow workers (I actually out rank them in our company, but we consider ourselves an equal team and that's one of the best things). Our company has survived stupid new government regulations. I work hard, sleep well, and can't understand why anyone would want to be idle. I suppose with proper re-education I could become more progressive and learn to be a good malcontent.

Over the past eight years....I “was” better off... up until about 3 months ago. Now...I’m facing a possible layoff and then probably a difficult time finding another job due to the DemocRat-caused meltdown of the economy.

So no...I’d have to say that I am NOT better off NOW than I was 8 yrs ago. Back then I had ‘hope’ for the future. Now all I have ‘change’....and fear for the future of the entire country.

And yes, I blame the DemocRats and the RINOs for this new “hope and change” bs. I ‘hope’ they individually rot in Hell while their rotating positions on their spit ‘changes’.

Guess you need to narrow your question down some. Money” Family? Safer? etc.

Yep - went through Katrina and my retirement investments are down, but I am totally debt free, due to my wife and I living within our income. We own both our Jeeps and our house, and don't have to worry about unexpected expenses. My daughter gave us two beautiful grand daughters and my son is about to marry a gem of a young woman.

God is ALWAYS good if you only let Him into your life!

The way I look at it, is even with what I consider to be evil at the helm of our nation, we all have the opportunity to savor the good life that He provides those who believe and trust in Him.

Even with recent losses, I am still way better off than 8 years ago.

This past year has been tough with my husband having reduced hours, and periodic lay offs. My only child also started college this year, so money has been tight, but over all we are MUCH better off than we were 8 years ago!

I wish I could say I was but I can’t. My husband’s business is hanging by a thread. We are facing layoffs at my job. My healthcare has risen by leaps and bounds.

Yep, and it's all the fault of the democrats and their irresponsibility!

Yes.

New home. Two new kids. Two new cars.Regular salary increases and improved job security.

Eight years ago, my head (and I suspect almost everybody’s head) was in the sand in regards to terrorism. Now I am aware and I am safer.
