HANOVER, Pa. (AP) ― A mail carrier was trapped inside her car for nearly two hours at a home near Hanover after a pair of dogs attacked her tires, flattening three of them.
Robin Barton had to summon help by cell phone on Wednesday. When the police arrived, the dogs attacked the cruiser's tire as well.
Authorities were preparing to tranquilize the dogs Judge and Justice, a Rottweiler and a pit-bull mix, before the surprised and apologetic homeowner arrived.
Stephanie Dekelbaum, the dogs' owner, called them "generally sweethearts" and blamed the attack on a tire toy the dogs had recently been given.
Sounds like Funney Farm, ever try rolling a boulder into the side of her vechicle?
I have two huskies. Adopted them 10 years ago this coming July! I believe in animal adoptions. It's a PETA that you misunderstood me!
LOL, I should have known.
Or drop an anvil on her...that always seems to work!
If you live on a rural farm like this woman does, you either need a gun or a big dog -- preferably both.
In case you're wondering, I got the above information directly from the commander of the PSP York Barracks. Here is a map of York County (PA).
Local TV News story said that the dog owner offered to by a new set of tires. Rural mail carriers typically use their own vehicles, so I doubt that they are going to be covered for this type of thing.
Just because a dog is BIG doesn’t mean they have to EAT TIRES!!! Geesh!
The owner should also offer to repaint that Jeep Cherokee. If the ‘sweethearts’ were chewing the tires, they probably were jumping up to bark at the scared letter carrier and that just would do wonders for a vehicle’s finish.
Crum Petree! LOL!
Ann... calm down. My point was a little off topic. I’m not making excuses for what these dogs did. My only point was to show the situation that a lot of rural people here live with. Home break-ins are pretty common in this area of the state & most townships do not even have a local or regional police force.
Okay...I’ll bite...why didn’t she just drive off?
No...I rolled my Sicilian/biker hubby out to “have a talk” with her.
She creeps down the lane, *now*.....:))
Ha!
It’s never worked for that coyote.....:-p
Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor little yappy ankle-biting dogs will stop mail carriers.
Beeee-yootiful area.
We’ve taken many a ride through its green and pleasant lands.
[and it’s right next door to Gettysburg Bike Week...which ironically, lasts only three days...cheap Yankees]....LOL!
LOL I think his tail is out of sync.
Aw man.
I’m all teary, now.
My best Doberman used to play that game with me....:(
The dogs "attacked" the tires, but there is no reference to "attacking" a human.
(Note to postal worker: you can drive limited distances on a flat, or even a couple of them. Not easy if you don't have power steering, handling is sloppy, and you should not go very fast, but it can be done--even on a motorcycle.)
Time to train the puppies to NOT bite tires in use, imo.
Sounds like my town, they cut back significantly on night patrol. I had 911 on the phone for 10 minutes one night following a drunk guy weaving all over the road and they couldn’t get an officer into the area to pull the guy.
